May 26 postgame quotes: Mike Richards

On the Game 6 loss:
“We probably didn’t have our best game tonight. It seemed like we had a tough time getting it together and getting sustained pressure. Give them pressure – they played well. They kept us to the outside for the most of the night. It’s disappointing, but at the same time it’s one of those games that you have to put behind you and move on and get right back at it on Tuesday. It’s a pretty good series, and one game decides it.”

On home ice advantage potentially making the difference in Game 7:
“Hopefully. That’s why you play the whole year. We’re obviously comfortable there with our record, and it comes down to one game. It’s exciting, even though obviously we would’ve rather had it tonight. But it’s going to be a good game on Tuesday, and whoever plays their best the longest is going to win.”

On San Jose’s early five-on-three power play having a major impact on the game:
“Yeah, their power play in this building is good, to say the least. I took a penalty there, and Kopi had a…bad break, but it’s just plays that probably shouldn’t happen in a penalty. But, like I said, whatever’s happened happened in this series. It’s coming down to one game. We have to get excited and ready for the next one.”

On another 2-1 road loss:
“Yeah, but you need to score on the road. Obviously we’re a confident, comfortable team at home. We’ve played well there. The fans are always loud and behind us, so it’s going to be an exciting game.”

On San Jose being a particularly difficult team to come from behind against:
“Maybe. I didn’t think we played well, to be honest with you. I mean, our line itself just didn’t seem like we were getting anything anywhere. The first period they had a couple chances in the zone. I took the penalty. But other than that, it was just everything was to the outside. It didn’t seem like we could generate anything. We have to find a way to do that, obviously on Tuesday night hopefully.”
