Toffoli recalled

Tyler Toffoli was recalled by the Kings on Wednesday and would likely slot into tonight’s lineup against the Detroit Red Wings in the event Dustin Brown receives a suspension for his Tuesday night hit on Jason Pominville.

Toffoli, who turns 21 today, took home the Dudley “Red” Garrett Memorial Award as the top rookie of the American Hockey League by virtue of a 28-goal, 51-point campaign. Despite missing 15 games due to a promotion to Los Angeles in which he recorded two goals and five points in eight games, he still finished tied for 10th in the AHL with 28 goals.

Following his return to Manchester on April 19, Toffoli posted assists in three straight games (0-3=3) as the Monarchs posted a 2-1-0 record over the season’s final weekend and secured a playoff berth for the fourth consecutive year.

I’ll have more on Toffoli’s potential placement in the lineup in today’s game preview.
