Sources: NHL hearing with Brown

Dustin Brown has a 2:00 PM ET 1:00 PM phone hearing with the National Hockey League stemming from his second period hit on Minnesota Wild forward Jason Pominville, according to several reports.

Though no penalty was called on the play, it is clear that Brown, while bracing for contact from an advancing Pominville, raises his elbow and makes heavy contact principally with Pominville’s face. Pominville, whose helmet also struck the ice violently as he recoiled from the hit, did not return to the game.

Brown has never been suspended in his 641-game NHL career. Should the NHL deem one worthy, his streak of 314 consecutive games played (2/27/09-current) would come to an end. Anze Kopitar holds the team record for consecutive games played with 330 (3/21/07-3/26/11).
