March 23 postgame quotes: Jarret Stoll

On the loss to Vancouver:
“We had some good quality chances that we missed the net on. You break them out, and you chase the game a little bit more than what you should. I don’t know if we out-chanced them or not. It was pretty close. I wouldn’t say we played bad. We just didn’t find a way to win the game, didn’t find a way to get pucks on net when we had good scoring chances, [and lacked] that bear down mentality to score.”

On whether the loss can be attributed to a strong performance by Cory Schneider:
“Every team’s got good goaltending. This league is all about that and low-scoring games and one-nothing, three-two, two-one, whatever. But the bottom line is we’ve got to be better to score goals and bear dwon more. It’s not like we’re not getting chances…I think we are. But we can work for more chances, number one, and number two, we can bear down when we get those chances.”

On whether Schneider’s save on Trevor Lewis was a major turning point:
“It’s part of the game. Quickie made some big saves for us when it was 1-0 for them and kept us in the game. So it goes both ways. You’ve just got to find a way to push through and find a way to put the puck in the net.”

On the Canucks’ defensive attributes that frustrated the Kings:
“They were aggressive. They made some good reads. I don’t think we used our speed enough against their D to cause turnovers, to get them turned, to get them going back for pucks and making tough decisions, tough plays. We’re a speed game. We’ve got speed on the wings and up the middle, and I don’t think we used out speed to our advantage enough tonight.”
