The NHL Cryotes from Phoenix are really good at playing a ref to zone game. I think the ref thought Doan wanted to go hug Muzzin because Doan doesn’t do anything physical. That is my reasoning for a noncall on someone who was throwing his gloves and chasing a player.

Nope, he was a net negative to his team. The game winning goal came after a penalty on Antwine Vermette going after Muzzin, and the PP goal itself was caused by Hanzal chasing Muzzin all the way to the high wall to cross check Muzzin, leaving half the ice open. Sure Doan got a couple goals in advantage situations. ALL of that was about Doan. That’s the way he likes it. That’s why he won’t leave PHX, he likes being the big fish in a small pond, with no expectations to live up to. It’s all about Doan for Doan.

Tripping is a penalty. If you trip someone and the ref misses it your cheating? Fighting is a penalty. Was Clifford cheating in SJ game? Because Doan wasn’t called doesn’t make him a cheater. It means the refs suck.

By the way, that’s why it needs to be handled by discipline AFTER the game, so the tape can be reviewed and the party guilty of faking can be disciplined with confidence. The peripheral vision of officials just isn’t good enough to catch it most of the time.

@Osaka, Because it’s deliberate deception–it’s fraud. Normal penalties are things people do in the heat of the moment because they’re competitive. Divers know what they’re doing when they decide to cheat. BTW, it’s not just that. Other forms of cheating, such as Ryan Clowne’s move last season should be addressed, too.

Bernier is answers the interview questions much better then Quick. I swear sometimes it seems like quick doesn’t even listen to the question and just gives some stock answer. Example last night he was asked about if a goalie can feel when he is in a zone, and quick went on to talk about good team play blah blah blah. Bernier seems to give more thoughtful answers

@bluedon, Bernier seems happy to talk to the reporters. Whenever he is interviewed, he has a smile on his face and he is very good natured about stupid questions (i.e.: “Is there a goalie controversy in L.A.?” He politely chuckles and says no, he’s heard that for 3 years. Class act that Bernier).
It seems that Quick is similar to Brown where they don’t really like to speak to reporters. They’re incredibly private people and reporters try to pick and pry things out of them that they’d probably rather remain private or secret.

I don’t post in these often, but I’m personally getting sick and tired of Shane Doan and his antics. To go so far as to fake an injury from a knee on knee hit that HE attempted to do leaves me at beyond words.
