March 9 postgame quotes: Jonathan Quick

On whether the second five-on-three that the team killed off was a turning point:
“No, I don’t think it was. You build a little momentum off that, obviously. I don’t think it was more than that.”

On whether he assumed right away that the disallowed goal was going to be called off:
“I assumed it was. Yeah, he just skated right into me. So I assumed it was. I think it was the right call. Maybe it wasn’t. Who knows. I thought it was.”

On whether there’s consistency with goaltender interference assessments:
“It’s very hard. I’ll tell you, they do a good job of trying to keep it as consistent as possible. It’s very hard, because a lot of it – [they’re] watching the puck, [they’re] watching the play, a guy bumps the goalie. I don’t know. It’s kind of a grey area. It’s tough. It’s a tough call to make, because no matter what, especially on a goal, somebody’s going to be mad. But if they make the call interference, one team’s not happy. It’s a tough call to make. I thought he got it right there. I’m sure if you go to their locker room, they’ll say he got it wrong. Hey, that’s how it works.”

On whether officials communicate to him adequately the reasoning behind such calls:
“If I ask. If guys ask. Even if we don’t sometimes, if they know it’s a call where it could have gone either way, they’ll come over and explain why or why not. I’ve had times where I’ve gotten bumped and the puck doesn’t go in, it goes in the corner and we go down the ice, there’s a whistle. One of the refs will come down and say ‘I would’ve waved that off. That wouldn’t have been a goal if that went in.’ Sometimes they do. Sometimes I’m sure they feel like they don’t need to. But it is good to have that communication so you know what to expect.”

On whether what was discussed during the first intermission:
“Yeah, we just had to be better. There are a lot of little things that we need to correct and get better at, and I think we did it well over the last 40 minutes.”

On whether he expects Jeff Carter to score every game:
“I think it is with the fans. It’s kind of funny. Every time he has the puck, he shoots – it doesn’t matter where he shoots it from, it could be from the neutral zone – I feel like the fans expect it to go in. He’s playing great hockey for us. He’s scoring big goals and he’s one of the leaders on our team. We need him to do that, and he’s one of the biggest reasons why we are in the standings where we are right now.”
