On where the breakdowns in the third period occurred:
“I know the fourth one was a faceoff goal, so I’m not really sure what happened there. It’s probably the one time in the hockey game where you have a set play. We must have lost coverage. I’m not sure. I haven’t seen [the replay]. Both goals were just kind of a guy gets in behind our coverage. It’s a five man, six-man awareness to where everyone is. We made some errors and they capitalized.”
On whether this was a faster Dallas Stars team than in previous years:
“They definitely had a different look to them. [They had] a lot of new guys in their lineup with a lot of energy. It was a divisional game and they found a way to win.”
On the errors that led to Dallas’ goals:
“They worked hard, but every error we made they made a good play on and found a way to score. That line of Benn, Eriksson and Jagr had an impact on the game. Our top guys need to be better in a game like tonight.”
The best thing about this team is that they don’t make excuses. They say we had some errors tonight and that led to the other team beating us.
It’s kind of refreshing that Brownie is honest about what happened instead of making an excuse about it.

@shiny, That’s what I said in the last thread my rebuttal to your comment about being too harsh on them.

@WMKINGS33,, Lol, only the ‘C’ gets a free pass – not a guy in a 33 jersey with an ‘A’ on it.

@LVK88, In other words, you in your WM 33 jersey can’t say that – but DB 23 can..

@LVKINGS88, Oh I didn’t see it. I got depressed and closed the window. I know I was making excuses for them, but it is a factor whether they’re willing to admit it is or not. The human body just needs time to rest and relax for more than a day without being put through strenuous activity.
My comment here was that I like that they’re not going to use it as an excuse because they had the day off. Problem is, they just didn’t come out hard enough and Dallas came out harder. So – my point is, lack of rest is an excuse and it’s not. Make sense?
(I know, I’m contradicting myself)

@shiny, Good take. Excuses are worth zero points in the standings.
Well…don’t make errors, then!!…

@Harry, Has Brown been the best player in any game so far this season? I don’t recall.

@vinny, Brown? Really? I’d say easily Carter, then maybe Penner, then Clifford.

@What’s the frequency, Kenneth?, off the top of my head i can think of 3 “grade A” scoring chances from brownie, and dont recall him being out there for a goal against. had a nice hit on jagr as well. as for carter and penner, i thought they had good games, although that fourth goal was against em, but quick was very questionable on that one just cause of where he was and sliding to, when he made the toe save on benn, and carter never should of passed on that s/h 2-1, but hey thats just me. and cliffy…well he, along with probably two others had their sticks in such stupid position on that first penalty kill, which left a huge lane open for benn to make that pass..way too easy for him there. he got too much credit in my opinion. he was nothing better than carter was last night, nor worse, but certainly not oooh awww lol

@Harry, Time to consider trading Brown now that the trade deadline is approaching. It seems to send a strong message and gets him playing good hockey again.
