    [Reply]

    mask0425x Reply:

    @Duncanz,

    LaWrong has an extensive and consistent track record of crappy calls/non-calls against the Kings. Still traumatized from when he single-handedly delivered a game to DAL last year. If I remember correctly, Doughty’s goal was disallowed and Williams got a minor for being Souray’s punching bag. DAL ties and wins in SO.

    Those who watch Kings on regular basis, is Doughty holding back from going end-to-end like last season because of increased minutes?

    [Reply]

    SLIM Reply:

    @Nanook from the North.

    It’s still in his game….
    I think he would do it regardless of minutes played…

    [Reply]

    Duncanz Reply:

    @Nanook, He’s been playing a more holding role since he’s been partnered with Muzzin, I think.
    Muzzin is the one stepping up.

    [Reply]

    jess Reply:

    @Nanook,

    You probably don’t see that as much because Sutter’s system is built more around support from our zone to the opponent’s as to establish a strong forecheck. And the minutes, like you say may have something to do with it also.

    [Reply]

    Paul Armbruster (KingsNewsDaily.com) Reply:

    @Nanook,

    He’s playing a far more defensive defenseman role with Mitchell out.

    FiG17 Reply:

    @Paul Armbruster (KingsNewsDaily.com),

    100% agreed. I’m not at all concerned about Doughty’s lack of scoring for this very reason. In fact, I think he’s shown a lot of maturity and proven that his priority is to his responsibility as a member of this team, not to his individual stat sheet.

    [Reply]

    variable Reply:

    @Nanook,

    PAUL provided the right answer….

    drew just needs to watch the backside of the blueline a lil’ more to compensate for muzzy’s maturation…

    however, if jake keeps this pace up, drew might not have to score as much as we previously thought…

    We played two periods and forgot how to play in the third. We got owned on their PP and both of those goals show you we really need Willie or Green. I’m sorry but this is not the JQ we saw before, everyone knows to go glove high and this is the second game where he didn’t stop the puck sliding across his crease.Dallas was much more hungrier than the Kings,the Stars played like the way we played the last two and their goalie was better than ours.Oh well B/B with Cal,it’s gonna be tough,DS needs too do some chewing.

    [Reply]

    shiny Reply:

    @LVKINGS88, I think you’re being a little harsh. You wouldn’t be so mad if we’d managed to eek out a win. Yes we need Willie and Greener for nights like this but face it: we’re not getting them back this season (Greener *MAYBE* by Aprilr, but no idea if he’ll be game ready by then).

    Yes, there were a lot of defensive breakdowns and yes, everyone knows to go glove high on Quick. That’s because they do their homework. It was broadcasted all the damn world last summer that in order to beat Quick you HAVE to go high. Everyone has a weak spot that they all need to work on. He didn’t really have a chance to work on that this summer nor does have much chance to work on it in practice.

    You say 4 games in 5 days in no excuse but think of this: the Stars just came off 3 days rest, the Kings had 1. That’s not enough time to let your sore body heal then jump right back in and fight off a team that’s gunning for you because you’re the Champion and because they want your spot in the playoffs.

    Flames have their #1 goalie back so they’ll looking to even the series on Saturday. Kings need to bring their A game and shut them down.

    [Reply]

    LVKINGS88 Reply:

    @shiny, Not harsh, just call it the way I see it, you kinda did to by confirming some of my points. It will be a tough two games coming up that’s for sure, kipper is a Kings killer. I’m bet all the quotes from Sutter,JQ and so on will be about them having no excuses,the Stars outplayed at them least half the game and took advantage of our let downs,remember everybody is playing a condensed schedule, we’ll see what team comes out this Sat.

    The thing I like the most about The Kings since the 3-2 loss in Detroit is, is that they are playing entertaining hockey! Even when they have lost, like tonite. Before that Detroit game, they were boring me to tears with their Terry Murray/Ethan Moreau boring, lack of finish hockey.

    [Reply]

    shiny Reply:

    @Goring 19, Which is the only way that you’re going to beat the Kings because they’re really that good. You have to take advantage of puck turnovers and mistakes (and boy were there a lot tonight) in order to beat the Kings.

    I maintain that the Kings are talented enough to get through this March Hell schedule and come out on top. They have an excellent coach who will be able to keep them focused on what the next task and priority is. He won’t let them get too down.

    [Reply]

    Goring 19 Reply:

    @shiny, Coach Sutter said it in the media questions tonight-”we need better goaltending and better defensive play, you won’ win if you don’t have it” or something like that he said.

    [Reply]

    shiny Reply:

    @Goring 19, Quick looked solid in the first period. I saw the steely concentration. Missed the second period. And then every team in the NHL knows how to beat him (glove side high or really just top shelf period) so I wonder what he does with Ranford to work on these problems. I’m in no way blaming him or calling him a bad goalie. I’m just curious what he does to work on his weaknesses.

    shiny Reply:

    @Goring 19, But they definitely need better defensive play. That was brutal to watch in the last half of the 3rd. Everything just started breaking down. The guys were confused, they looked lost and had no communication. Sutter is right, obviously. They need better goaltending and defense, particularly defense when your goaltending isn’t strong. It’s going to make the playoffs that much more difficult this season.

    @Goring 19, And there were way too many of those.
