March 4 postgame quotes: Jonathan Bernier

On his career success against Nashville:
“Yeah, I’ve been successful against them, that’s for sure. But when you give up 20 shots or something like that, you’ve got to make sure you make those big saves and keep the team in it. We found a way to score that one, and kept going from thereafter.”

On staying mentally sharp with so few shots against:
“I’m just trying to stay focused, and obviously when you don’t get too many shots you’re just hoping you’re not going to get a breakaway right away. But we did an awesome job – our F3 was really high tonight, and we actually created a lot of offense with that.”

Generally speaking, on whether having good stats against a particular team is more than a coincidence:
“I think it’s obviously as a goalie, it’s all about confidence, and I guess I’m pretty confident when I play against Nashville. It’s been that way.”

On Jeff Carter:
“He’s been unbelievable for us scoring some big goals. We need a guy like that that takes over, and he’s doing it right now.”

On how quickly the cadence of the game changed:
“It was 5-1 like [that]. Our F3, like I said earlier, was really, really good, and that’s how we create a lot of chances like that. We got our chances and we buried. That’s the game, I guess.”

Great game Bernier! Can’t believe how good he is against Nashville.

@CB14, he’s 7 and 1, that would be good against almost everybody, but nice backhanded compliment

@JD, correction he’s 5 and 1, still pretty good overall

@JD, That wasn’t a backhanded compliment. I meant over the course of his career he’s been great against Nashville. He dominated them last year too, had you been a Kings fan for more than a year you’d know that. Don’t know what your problem is with me, but keep on reading things that aren’t there.

    JD Reply:

@JD, didn’t the kings just start playing last year??? Been a fan since Healy hrudey and the great knickle, so I know how bad our goalies have been. Seems like your loyal to quick and brown, and everybody else sucks, pretty negative most of the time. Maybe I’m reading to much into your post, maybe a Long time king fan like yourself can educate me

    CB14 Reply:

@JD, If you know about Bernier’s history against the Preds, then why did you think what I wrote was a backhanded compliment? Just because I might be negative sometimes, doesn’t mean everything I write is negative all the time.

Yes, I am loyal to Quick and Brown, but it’s only because they led this team to the Stanley Cup. Had Bernier and Stoll done what Quick and Brown did last season, then I’d be loyal to them. It’s not just JQ and DB, there are others who I back up, but those guys don’t get the type of hate that DB and JQ get.

P.S. I apoligize for being a jerk in my previous comment.

@Mikey J., I think they have a contractual obligation to Malkin, Crosby and Stamkos (even though Stamkos doesn’t play for Pens) because every MF’ing night they’re talking about some play Malkin, Crosby or Stamkos made. It’s like we get it, you’re hot for the Pens. Stop telling us

    Mikey J. Reply:

@soo-do-nihm, The Pens are fun to watch, they sure are fast. It seems like they’re beating up teams like Tampa Bay every other night though.

    soo-do-nihm Reply:

@Mikey J., yeah they are fast. You know what I’ve noticed? They score about 90% of their goals on a breakaway and the other teams just seem to let them. And the goalies just stare at them like they’re back in peewee and they’re like “Oh crap, here comes that Crosby/Malkin/whoever kid again” LOL. Maybe I’m over exaggerating a little BUT every time I watch highlights of Pens games, that’s how most of their goals are scored.

    Duncanz Reply:

@sea-doo-nihm, As soon as you said “over exaggerating”, I knew you were ‘over exaggerating’!

For the love of God, keep this guy in the net. Let Jonathan Quick hang out with Bill Ranford for a while and get his game back.

Got home in time to see the third. Sounds like the 1st and 2nd were what was expected. It was amazing to see that third period. We dominated them. Lately, aside from Canucks we have been killing teams in the third.

Every line played well in the third. Defense played great. Thought ellerby has been making some strides.

Scuds dropped a few passes, he’s been doing that almost every game, literally.

    What's the frequency, Kenneth? Reply:

@Lake Forest, I think it’s a matter of not giving away too many sweet chances in the first couple periods. I’d say that’s what sunk them against the Canucks, and probably could have against the Preds, except Berns kept ‘em in it. He had a much better game than his last outing. No shakes tonight–would have earned the shutout if he hadn’t been scored on late.

That, and as I noted before, the Kings got caught playing the Canucks game Saturday.

This is kind of ridiculous, though… Jeff Carter’s trending on twitter and my facebook blew up with related statuses… and it’s only the regular season. I haven’t seen/heard so many people talking about the Kings since… ever.

Two years ago, Jonathan Quick could have gotten a hat trick and everyone would be all, “OMG Kobe wore green today!”

    soo-do-nihm Reply:

@FiG17, Yeah, the Kings and Carter trending is weird. The last time they were trending was on Legends Night and I still thought that was weird

Love this guy, all class. He takes no credit for the win, just says he was trying to stay sharp in his end and just do his part. How much better can the guys on this team get?? No one wants to take credit – they all say it’s a team effort (and it is, but getting a hattie doesn’t hurt). LOVE THIS.
