My LAKings.com feature that details the examples set by veteran defenseman Rob Scuderi was posted today, and I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read it and share your thoughts on the steady defenseman who is the third-youngest “elder statesman” of a National Hockey League locker room.
“I’ve been playing the same ugly but effective game since I was 18. If you pulled up college video of me, you’d be seeing me doing the same exact thing. Although I know I’m the oldest guy here, it’s not something I think about or dwell on. I just try to enjoy myself and play the game hard and try to be a good leader for everyone else,” Scuderi said.
Our new Sean O’Donnell.

@tornado12,
Now that you mention it, maybe Greene is the “Norstrom” (leader in the clubhouse and on the ice) while Scuds is the “O’Donnell” (solid veteran mentoring the others by just being himself)

Off topic but how about this Bryzgalov’s mask?

Fitting, considering Bryz is pretty much a space cadet anyway.

IMHO, he should add “May the force be with me” on his mask cause he really needs it.

@goldielocks, well based on his HBO 24/7 performance, the dude is a total space cadet, so it seems only fitting…

@Shakes,
Well, based on his comment about his fear over the bear in the forest, opposing goalie should wear the bear mask.

@DesertKing, I doubt it. This copyright stuff is a really fine line to walk. Technically he’s not using it for personal gain, he’s not trying to promote the franchise without permission or anything.
Personally, I think he chose Star Wars cuz the pucks zipping past his head reminds him or some of the sound effects from the movie. And because there’s a lot of empty space between his ears.
I think this will end up like the Bernier thing when he had the Hollywood sign on his.mask a year or.two ago.

Plays the “keep it simple” way, great signing by Dean Lombardi. Pittsburgh’s defense has never been the same since he left there. I see Scuds as a future coach one day.

Got some real classy guys on this team. Humble, hardworking and believes in a full team effort. How lucky LA is to have such low key, classy dudes.
I love that he’s trying to be a role model through his actions and not just his words. That proves what a great person he is and how truly skilled he is as an athlete.

The Kings are 6-2 and have only lost to the Wings and Hawks, which were close games, since acquiring Ellerby. He must be doing something good.

Flyers’ website says Simon Gagne has been traded to them from LA – for conditional 4th round pick.

@IceGuy, I think they are just solidifying Penner in the line up right now.
I dont see any call ups unless there is an injury.
I also would not be surprised if we dont see another three way trade.
[Reply]
So, let the speculation begin…
They’ve found Willie?
Tofolli?
Another deal coming with Philly for Bernier?
Mikus has signed a new deal with us?
[Reply]
Goldie, don’t let Clippers (phil sykes) hear you say that…..actuallx…..maybe it’s better if he did. Every year he picks a player to dump on and that player ends tp being a bench mark player. Maybe you can get him to dump on Elerby more.

It is impossible to overstate Rob Scuderi’s value. Pittsburgh quite simply does not win the Cup in ’09 without Scuderi. He was so noticeable ( in a good way, as usually a stay at home dman isn’t noticed but for mistakes). I think he is DL’s best free agent signing, head and shoulders above WM.
His nickname says it all—THE PIECE!
