February 25 morning skate quotes: Jeff Carter

On how Trevor Lewis complements his line:
“I think he kinds of brings the same element that Cliffy did with a lot of speed and getting in on forechecks and winning a lot of puck battles for us. He’s the type of guy that does a lot of little things that really don’t get noticed. He obviously has shown that he can put the puck in the net – I think we all knew that he was just kind of having a tough go there for a while. I think he’s been a real good addition.”

On what he’s seen from Anaheim goaltender Viktor Fasth:
“I’ve seen a little bit. I’ve watched a few of the games. He seems like a big guy. I don’t know if he reminds me of Lundqvist a little bit, where he’s big and he’s really square up top and he covers a lot of the net. It’s hard to say when you haven’t played against him [and] you’ve just watched. He’s playing well right now. He’s obviously carrying the load for them. We’re going to have to test him early and see what he’s got, I guess.”

On facing Anaheim:
“They’re playing well. Obviously we didn’t fare too well last game. [We] didn’t have the best game. But I think we’ve kind of caught our stride now. We’re playing a lot better. So hopefully we have a better outcome.”

On forechecking and playing against Anaheim’s sizable forwards:
“That’s our gameplan, to use our size, speed, get on the forecheck. We’ve got a lot of big bodies that can hang onto the puck down low and kind of wear their D down. They’ve got a lot of bigger guys that maybe don’t move as well. So we’ve just got to kind of wear them down, stick with it and it’ll come.”

On his impressions of the L.A. – Anaheim rivalry:
“I’ve played in some pretty good rivalries out east. I don’t know if it’s that big of a rivalry, but they’re always fun games. There’s a lot of skill on both teams and they’re usually pretty entertaining.”
