Behold: Scotiabank Saddledome

Welcome to the Olympic Canadian Airlines Pengrowth Scotiabank Saddledome, home of the Calgary Flames since 1983. The second picture doesn’t adequately depict the size of this 19,289-seat facility, which has some of the highest nosebleed seats I’ve ever seen at an indoor sporting event. I assume that in theory it is possible to see the puck from the 300 level, though I do not care to test that hypothesis. To walk from the writers’ area of the press box to the Ed Whalen Broadcast Booth is to walk across a terrifying set of catwalks, above the scoreboard, and directly over the center of the ice. The Flames have retired two jerseys, those of Lanny McDonald (9) and Mike Vernon (30).

  3. I hope you have fall-protection gear on up there! Looks like you’re in the catwalks (or perms as we call ‘em in the biz).

In the old Pittsburgh arena..the igloo..
You could go up to the catwalks which were scary….
But also take somme flimsy stairs all the way to the roof…
    Truly frightening…

With my thoughts of Bob Miller……If you fall…will the Kings be penalized for having too many men on the ice !!!!

  7. So will 55 points be the cut off point for the 8th place team in the West? Or, could it be far lower? And does anyone even care? It’s basically guess-work but digging into the 1994-95 season does reveal some startling low point totals, even when you consider the Bettman point.
