February 18 practice notes

Lots of content will be posted through the afternoon on the blog. Most importantly, I want to offer my sincere condolences to the Buss family on the passing of Dr. Jerry Buss, perhaps the most influential person in the history of Los Angeles sports culture. I spoke with Bob Miller about Dr. Buss, who owned the team from 1979 to 1987 and negotiated the naming rights of the Forum with Great Western Bank. That interview will be posted shortly.

As noted earlier, there were significant line changes up front at today’s practice. Kyle Clifford was skating on a line with Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown, which will be covered in today’s player quotes. I also recorded the second edition of FrasCast, in which we talk about British Columbian and Albertan culture, as well as the best ice surfaces in the league in addition to analysis of yesterday’s game. I’ll also post photos of Los Angeles Amateur Scout – Western Canada Brent McEwen, who received his championship ring in the media room upstairs at Rexall Place this afternoon.

Darryl Sutter was with family this morning and was not on the ice. Today’s practice was led by assistant coaches John Stevens and Davis Payne. Keep checking the blog this afternoon – there’s a lot more to come.

    I think That Jonathan Bernier should start a Back to Back games because Jonathan Quick is not playing well as a goalie so Quick will Start on This Saturday and Bernier to Start Tuesday Night Tomorrow and Wednesday to help the Kings a Victory Back to Back Games so what do you think

    @Adam M, How soon they forget, huh? We know what Quick is capable of so I think you need to can the “What have you done for us lately?” talk and just let him get back to the top… and he will.

    @Adam M,

    I think reading run-on sentences without any punctuation what so ever, really illuminates a captivating, train-wreck-esque dynamic to your perspective.

    Yes, I make my share of mistakes but at least I try and sometimes I also think about other stuff too like my friend @xeropoint shotgunning a slushy and wonder what that might feel like although I’m scared so what do you think?

    Duncanz Reply:

    @jest, I think there was xeropoint in your answer.

    @Adam M, I’m all for it.
    All this old fashioned sentimentality is out of date already.
    Like you, I conveniently only remember back as far as the last win(ning streak) – and that would be with who in nets?
    Solid thinking yet again from the conscience of the blog, @Adam M!

    @Adam M,

    I think Quick played really well and his game is coming tigether at this point so there is no reason to use Bernier back to back our defensemen played well previous two games with Bernier but they were crappy against Chicago so it wasn’t Quick’s fault at all by the way I’m done with no punctuation stuff because this makes me dizzy so What dou you think

    @Duncanz,

    Can’t use ‘-’ cause it’s against the rule.

    Adam M Reply:

    @goldielocks, Okay @goldielocks first of is Quick’s fault because he gives up a Goal what is Quick was thinking about giving up a Goal and now we need to use Bernier to play against the Oilers and the Flames because Quick is not playing well with the Kings and we need Bernier to start with back to back games and Quick will start on this Saturday

    kissmyblarneystones Reply:

    @Adam M,

    Hey Adam!!! It’s hard to play in goal when your teammate is standing on your stick or if a player from the other team kicked your stick farther away from you.

    Adam? Are you from Quebec?

    Duncanz Reply:

    @kissmypickupstix, ok @kissmyslippysticks, what @Adam is saying is that Bernier would not make same mistakes and lose his stick and so Bernier plays in goal for next 2 games and the Quick will get a turn later, like Saturday.
