Good morning, Chicago

It’s because of shots like this one that I am reminded why I did not enter into a career in photography. Of course, the John Hancock Center and yet another water streaked window didn’t exactly play into this blog’s favor on a chilly February morning. We’re on the Magnificent Mile, several blocks off of Lake Michigan, and although it appears bright and sunny from the 15th floor, it’s actually only 17 degrees outside. On the bottom right is the Fourth Presbyterian Church, which houses a congregation that moved into its original home on the first day of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. That church was destroyed by the fire and the congregation eventually moved into the building depicted below, which opened in 1914. So much for history. The Kings are hoping to pen a new chapter to this rivalry after a disappointing loss to the Blackhawks in the season opener. Game time is 12:30 Pacific and will be broadcast live on NBC.

@lakingbob(chi), Hey man!!! Great to hear from you. We’re in these seats: Center 216
Row: 7. Not that far. Only wife and I. I want to see you for sure. I’ll try to make if for warmups but here’s an email for me: KingsFriends@free2mail.com . I’ll check that on the way. We’ll be in black jerseys: Carter and wife in blank back. We normally go outside between periods. That’s a good fallback.

Yes, a wee bit cool back in these here parts. Also 17 degrees in NE Ohio. I can’t make it to the Madhouse today–got patients scheduled today. If we see the Detroit effort today, we’re in for a good game. Otherwise, forget it and move on to Alberta province.

Relentless, punishing style is needed. Don’t let Keith maneuver. Hit Duncan in the donuts.

@linny, I love the Chitown skyscape. As a long time Hawks and Cubs basher, I went there ready to hate it and fell in love with the “Loop”. GKG!!!
