February 17 postgame quotes: Jarret Stoll

On the challenges presented by Chicago:
“They worked. They moved the puck well and they caused turnovers – some in our zone, lots in the neutral zone. They caused a lot of turnovers in the neutral zone and went back at us. So it’s tough to play like that. It’s grinding hockey when you’ve got to chase the puck like that. We started working harder a little bit as we got some momentum in the third, but by then it was too late.”

On what caused the shift in momentum over the later stages of the game:
“It could be the simplest thing – just getting a good one or two passes or a good chip or a good forecheck just to get our game going. It was a struggle to find support, to have support for each other and to move the puck. We weren’t snapping the puck around like we usually do. They were, obviously.”

On what Jonathan Toews does well in the faceoff circle:
“He’s good. He’s one of the best in the league, and he’s strong on his stick. He spins. He does different things on you. Yeah, he’s a challenge.”

    Hopefully next time they play Chicago it will be a night game, since the Kings don’t seem to be ready in the afternoon games. 20 minutes of good hockey wont cut it.

    Try shooting for the jumbo tron and it will go right past the goaltender.

    @jest, No, because they’ll just cotton on and perch their goalie on the jumbotron.

    Slim have noticed the Kings have been having trouble with lines changes, that like 5 or 6 times already with the too many men penalties. Can’t believe Doughty didn’t get penalty after Towes high stick, he acted like he was shot. I don’t understand how you can have a slashing penalty and a diving penalty on the same play. If it is s slash how does the referee know how hard he was hit and what the players reaction should be. That was weak, Can’t believe Williams doesn’t get Goalie interference at the end. Brown gets called every time. The refs gave him a break on that one. Too bad they couldn’t capitalize on the break.

  5. Hey Stoll!! You suck and are the reason for all our failures this season. Right CB?

    @kissmyblarneystones, Not all of them, but he is a contributing factor.

    @CB14, He’s so bad that when he is clear in the slot, Lewis insists on holding the puck along the boards before passing it to a guy who is covered instead. Bad Stoll, Bad Stoll.

    @kissmyblarneystones, What are you even talking about?

    @CB14,

    That response coming from you, confirms what I already know about you. That you only choose to see things that reinforce your position.

    CB14 Reply:

    @kissmyblarneystones, Um, yeah, sure. Whatever you say.

    Are you seriously tring to say that because Trevor Lewis refused to pass to a wide open Jarret Stoll, that I should say that Jarret Stoll has played well this season?

    I don’t understand where you’re coming from in your comments. You’re the one that brought up my name and tried to initiate a response from me. I state my opinion on Stoll. You bring up a play that MIGHT have seen Stoll with a clear shot from the slot IF Lewis had passed to him. I ask what you’re trying to say or prove, and you insult me stating that I refuse to give Stoll credit on a COMPLETELY HYPOTHETICAL play. You make no sense.

    You’re so easy…. I’ll leave you alone.

    Face off disparity was a huge factor in the game. I expect a lot better in the circle from Stolly

    I don’t buy this “they played only 20 min”. Play started evening out in the middle third of the second period, carried over into the third, and got stronger from there. The first 27-28 min were painful to watch.
    My son-in-law in Chicago–lifelong Hawks fan–agrees and he’s worried about his team from what he saw in the later second period and the third.

    @Robert R, I missed the game, but it sounds like that might be a bit premature at this point. Maybe half way through the season and we’re way out of the playoffs running, you should start eyeballing that bridge.

    @Robert R,

    Hell No. I’ll take our record at the moment. We win the cup, and all of a sudden we’re expected to be the most dominant team in the NHL? Dude, this S*%T is hard, especially for a defending champion in a league with parity.

    When we’re on, we’re on and we’ve yet to hit stride. But when we do, its over!

    Somehow it seemed Chicago’s strategy was to get the stick away from Quick.

    soo-do-nihm Reply:

    @What’s the frequency, Kenneth?, I’m confused. According to DS, that should be illegal but the refs let it happen anyways. Does the goal tender have to be allowed to have all his equipment (or at least not get his stick taken away) for the play to continue or should the play be blown down at the point because isn’t it kinda the same as goalie interference? I don’t know.

    What's the frequency, Kenneth? Reply:

    @soo-do-nihm, He can get stuck without his stick, but you’re not allowed to grab his stick, or smack it away. Someone in front of the net smacked it away before the first goal, and the goal should not have counted. The third goal, Brownie was STANDING on his stick after it got knocked out of his hands.
