Good morning, St. Louis

Good morning St. Louis, and good morning blue skies. The Kings face the Blues at 5:00 pm PT on FOX Sports West and KTLK AM 1150. St. Louis is winless three games into a four-game homestand, and with the way their season ended last year, and with Los Angeles’ frustration over a slow start, there’s sure to be some emotion in this evening’s tilt. No Brian Elliott tonight: Jaroslav Halak is expected to draw the start after being activated from injured reserve. Jake Allen, who backed up Elliott during the homestand, was reassigned to Peoria.

@Forum Gold, I’m working this evening, that’s why i’m not watching. However, I still think the Kings will lose. It’s my opinion and you’ve got yours. Sure, I’d like them to win but I don’t think they realize the target on their back. How is this the team that DOMINATED the post season last year? They’re soft now. Marshmallow soft.

    Forum Gold Reply:

@Sancho, I agree about the target. They have not matched the intensity level the other teams now have playing the Cup champs. I am a 43 year optomist and believe those marshmellows are going to get hot and crispy tonight. GO KINGS GO!!!

@Sancho, Marshmallows. We need a spellcheck. GO KINGS GO!!!

It isn’t. They’re missing two of their three stay-at-home defensemen–probably the two that played the best in the playoffs, in fact. You don’t miss Greener until he’s gone, and EVERYONE knows how much they miss Mitchell. Frankly, I think it’s pretty easy to understand. Sadly, the short season makes it all the more urgent that they sort things out quickly. I think they will, but I think it will make the standings race about as harrowing as it was last season, and unless some pleasant surprises (like Voynov, last season) come our way, the finals don’t look very likely.

I hope the boys are ready to go at the puck drop, I would think the Blues would want to take it to the Kings after the sweep in the playoffs. Be ready, be smart and be The Kings of last playoff run. Play 60 minutes.

If the Kings keep playing like they did in Detroit they’re going to be just fine this year. Also the problem with Quick is that everyone compares him now to his playoff form which was a level that very few goalies have ever achieved. The fact of the matter is most NHL goalie do give up a bad goal here and there… all NHL goals aren’t perfect Datsyuk shots. I think Quick will be fine. I mean even studs like Ryan Miller have gone through dry spells in recent years.

@Shakes, The King’s played a team playing their third game in four days and the back end of a back to back in which they had less than 20 hours from their previous game to play again and had just as many injury issues as the Kings.

Not feeling all that warm and fuzzy about our effort against Detroit.

    Duncanz Reply:

@KC23, Well, not to split semantics or anything, but encouragingly it certainly looked as if the effort was there – just not always the execution.
This being so often the bane of the Kings; the execution.

@KC23, I think they concentrated so much on outworking Detroit that their fundamentals suffered. They worked hard, not smart.

The Kings just continue to find ways to lose. Unbelievable….if they aren’t upset about this, why should I be? It’s pretty obvious that they just don’t care.

Ho hum…”we need to learn how to finish” “we need to score more” “we need to find our game.”

Hey! I’ve got an idea! How about scoring FIRST?!?! That might work?

It can’t all be just bad luck and the ‘hockey gods’ against them.

EVERY team they will play this season wants nothing more than to beat the champs. They can’t take any games off. None. Not one.

It’s a new day. Kings got to pressure the puck like they did yesterday…and they’ll score a lot more goals. Just hit a hot goalie yesterday.

    goldielocks Reply:

    @Cruiznblue,

If they lose everytime they face the hot goalie, then they won’t even make playoffs cause this conference is filled with hot goaltenders compare to crappy eastern conference goalies.

I think that the St. Louis Blues should not hit Boarding on Best Players from LA Kings like
    Anze Kopitar
    Drew Doughty
Dustin Brown and no grease play on Bernier that Bernier will start in Goal at St. Louis and give Quick a Day off rest and he will be in goal the next Game because it was a back to back games that we cannot use Quick too much for a back to back games

We need penner on the ice screening. Quick… allow one more start and see what happens, let him know he can’t take it for granite.

The kings need to learn how to enter the zone like the blues. If the dmen don’t nuetralize this entry it will be a bloodbath in the LA’s basket.

No matter what happens I am here for the long run.

Richards be the assitant capt.and get this team going.Brown bury the damn thing.

If this was St Louis of last season I’d expect another Kings loss but the Blues are reeling as well and their confidence is down – just the recipe for the Kings to get a confidence boost and rattle off some wins!

This won’t be a walk in the park. Captain Kangaroo will have his Blues ready.
If they bring their Detroit effort to this game, it will be a good battle. Blues aren’t invincible; just got hammered by the Preds 6-1. Don’t jump ship yet. (But do have your life preserver close at hand.)
