According to this report from Columbus Dispatch reporter Aaron Portzline, Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky will hear from the league after his second period boarding major on defenseman Rob Scuderi and may face supplemental discipline. Dubinsky had the view of Scuderi’s number for much of the way into Columbus’ attacking zone, eventually sending the Kings’ defenseman face first into the area where the boards meet the glass.
According to Portzline, Brendan Shanahan will conduct the hearing by phone. Dubinsky has no suspension history in the NHL. He picked up a five minute major, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct on the play. He also was assessed five minutes for fighting Mike Richards, who immediately engaged him.
Good….. That was a nasty shiner, love how Richards has been stepping up for his teammates twice this season.

@gwtc, I think stepping up for your team mates is nice and all but, he doesn’t carry enough weight be effective at all. Taking the Kings out of PP situations doesnt do much good unless you’re able to send a clear and decisive message.

@Harrison Merkin, You have no idea what you’re talking about. You’re saying, unless the other guy takes a pounding it serves no purpose. You couldn’t be more wrong.
Mike Richards is leader and that is what leaders do.

@Paul Armbruster (KingsNewsDaily.com), In some fairness to Dubinsky Scuderi was very low to the boards which accounts for the extent of his injuries to the face. That said he probably should get 1 game…

Does Lance Armstrong agree with that?

Scuds is a WARRIOR.

What I don’t get is how Stoll got away with what he did to Fowler.

@KC23, True, and Fowler is still out. But, yeah, I think it was because a fight broke out the same play.

@KC23,
Shanny explained that Stoll was on his heels before the contact was made and what looks like a push from behind with his arms were actually bracing himself from the collision with the board. When you look at his right elbow, it didn’t make a contact with Fowler’s head but the glass. Nevertheless, Stoll drew attention so he should be careful cause next time he is involved in the similar situation, refs might make a call and possibly suspended.

Also, as a follow up about how the NHL interprets its own rules, here’s a piece on Stoll’s very similar hit on Fowler. Not too many Kings fans calling for Stoll’s suspension though…

@Paul Armbruster (KingsNewsDaily.com), I just saw that hit for the first time, and it did look like Stoll gave Fowler a forceful shove after grabbing on to his jersey….deserved a major penalty in my opinion…but glad the ref was busy staying out of the way and didn’t really see it…

Dubinsky and Anisimov are both under a lot of pressure since the trade. Dubinsky always reminded me of spoiled, rich kid. But, last night, he was freaking out.

2 game suspention that is. Approptiate to me.

I’d be suprised if he was suspended at all. Scuderi was kind of low going into the boards and they did call a 5 minute major on the play.

10K fine from the league, max possible under new cba…looks like no suspension

Last nights hit brought back shades of the playoffs, glad to see Richards step up and for Scuds to come back. Be interesting to see how his eye is tomorrow…
