On his second period goal:
“It was just a rebound, and I was obviously below the goal line. I knew I had some guys coming in straight to the net there, so I just kind of tried to throw it out. Actually, it probably would’ve went right to Kopi, but it hit Toots’ skate there. A lucky bounce. I’ll take it.”
On blocking out the negative crowd reactions:
“You go out and play your game. It’s the second time I’ve been here, so it’s just another game. This was a huge game for us, for both teams. We were…in the same position going into tonight, and we both needed some wins, so it was a big win.”
On any adjustments between the first and second period:
“I don’t think we made any adjustments. We just had to execute better. They’re a hardworking team. They come hard on the forecheck. That’s kind of the staple of their game, just getting pressure on you. We had the right gameplan. We just had to kind of regroup and settle down and make the right plays.”
On if the game was a “step in the right direction”:
“Yeah, definitely. We had to battle for everything tonight. That’s one thing these guys do real well – they leave everything on the ice in Columbus. They’re a tough team to play. They forecheck hard. They pressure the puck everywhere. We came out on the winning end here, but we had to definitely work for it.”
