Here’s a look at some stats heading into tomorrow’s game vs. Vancouver:
-The Kings have won two of the last three meetings vs. Vancouver (since 12-31-11)…The Kings have won three of the last five meetings at STAPLES Center (since 4-1-10)
-Dustin Brown is scheduled to play in his 600th game tomorrow vs. Vancouver
-Kyle Clifford has points in all four games and has figured in five of the Kings’ eight goals (1-4=5)
-The four-game point streak is a career high for Clifford
-Jonathan Quick has stopped 96 of 103 shots the last three games (.932 spct)
-The Kings are 93-26-13 all-time when Kopitar scores a goal
-The Kings have been better than 50 percent on faceoffs in three of four games this season
-Simon Gagne has 10 points (5-5=10) in 10 career games vs. Vancouver
-Jonathan Quick is 5-8-1 in 14 career games vs. Vancouver, but has a 1.98 GAA in those games
-Darryl Sutter tomorrow will tie Toe Blake for 25th all-time in games coached
-The Kings are 13,359 in attendance from 25 million total (regular season plus playoffs…NON neutral site or European games) — they should easily hit that figure tomorrow
Our insider must go to church during the day and then come out at night………/Kings by the number……1) That is the number of how many team that are the defending Stanley Cup Champions!!!!!!!!

I’ll bet @LAKings.com doesn’t fall short like this.
I know this is Kings fan site, but in order to maintain the fact that this is still an “in-depth, independent coverage of the Los Angeles Kings” website, you need to include stats that don’t just paint the Kings in a good light. There’s one negative stat up there, but even that one is followed by one putting a Kings player in a positive light. No person or team is perfect, even the hottest woman in the world farts every once in awhile.

A Night In The Coyote’s Den -What Was It Like?
I have always been impressed by the dedicated Kings fans who travel to Kings road games and support the team. Fans like @KopiBryant, @luc20rules and @shotongoal. Even though I have “roadtripped” to Anaheim, I had never been able to travel another arena until last night.I gained the following perspectives last night:
- While walking the concourse, I kept waiting to hear my flight # called
- Crote fans deserve the Cryote nickname “The Kings were sooooo lucky” “The Kings are the dirtiest team in the league” “You hit Roseval”
- Cryote fans hate DB. For the first few shifts, they TRIED to boo him every time he touched the puck. Notice I said TRIED. It was pretty pathetic. Cryote fans, please review Kovalspank’s first game as a Devil in Staples for the proper way to boo someone.
- When you go into another team’s arena as a fan of the Stanley Cup champion, you always have to defend how your team got the Cup, but it is the best feeling in the world to know that your #1
- Cryote fans know nothing about hockey. They were ecstatic when Doan took on Richards with 5:45 to play. They were laughing at nearby Kings fans and acting like they were on cloud 9. In our case, we explained they were still down by 2 goals and their best player and scorer just sent himself to the penalty box for the rest of the game. Most just sat down, but several got up and left the arena. Stupid fans fail to recognize a stupid player who is an even stupider team captain.
- When you get to sit 4 rows behind the goalie wearing bright white jerseys, you get to be on TV all night.
- Beer tastes the same everywhere.
- Refs suck everywhere.
- Kings fans are awesome everywhere.
Definitely a great night to be Kings fan and even better that we got the 2 points.

@Michael J., If. I were to be honest, I really admire the talent Canucks have at the top end. Also, if you allow yourself to be outworked by them on the ice they will quickly overpower you and take you apart.
They did exactly that against the Ducks (5-0) on Saturday but had that done to them last night by a very good Sharks team (1-4) so Kings need to take charge early and make them pay on their back-to-back. Plus it was an extremely hard fought game in San Jose.
Schneider played both games so it might be Luongo’s turn tonight.
Ought to be quite an interesting game, this one, and a bit of a defining one for the Kings.

Just read the LA Times blurb about DS/Willie Mitchell. (was looking for it on here//Rich, where are you?)It seems that Sutter is getting frustrated by Mitchell’s unwillingness to play.
what the heck is up with that?
I could understand if this was a head issue…if that was the case, I couldn’t blame him, but we’re talking about a knee issue that everyone including the doctors and trainers have given him the go-ahead to play.
If he doesn’t want to play any longer, he can retire any time he wants. Otherwise get your ass on the ice and play.

@nykingfan, Don’t really agree with this take, @nykf.
The player always knows better than anyone if he’s ready to be out there or not.
And he’s 35, not an indestructible spring chick anymore.
There should be no pressure for him to return prematurely, especially not from us Kings fans who owe him a world of appreciation for being the premier Dman in our stellar Lord Stanley winning defense.
And I’m more than a little surprised at Coach coming out and saying that to the press. He’s usually protective of the players and guarded with the media. Uncharacteristic. Shows a degree of desperation when it’s not needed just yet.
I sure hope this doesn’t lead to bad feelings between Willie and the staff. Kings need all the good chemistry they can muster right now.

@Duncanz,
He’s probably looking for an extention. If he gets injured, his career is over. A little insurance is a good thing when you’rr a dman over 35 in the NHL.

@nykingfan,
Did it ever occur to you or anyone else that the truth about Mitchell’s not playing may lay somewhere else entirely? Where is the quote from Mitchell saying ‘I do not feel like playing’ or from Sutter saying ‘I have a problem with Mitchell not wanting to play’ ??
NOWHERE, that’s where. Neither side has said there is anything going on with Mitchell to warrant all the speculations by the media and the fans. The team has no suspended him as the LA times reported he’d be after he got hurt during the lockout. He is not retiring, either. My take is that DL & DS want to see how Muzzin & DD2 do early in the season before Mitchell is inserted back in the line up. So far both have performed well, n reason to panic about Mitchell.

Guys..if this was any other type of injury and the coach wasn’t saying a word about it, far be it from me to comment about an injured player..
BUT
the fact that Sutter has come out publicly and done this, what does that say about the injury?
It’s always up to the player to decide when and if he can play..I’m not disputing that, but again, sutter comes out and questions him publicly…why would he do that other than the fact that he along with the doctors and trainers all agree that he should be able to get back out on the ice and play.
I don’t see what Sutter did as desperation. He has a player that all the sdpets say should be playing and he’s not even out on the ice skating. that deserves an answer from the player…whether he does that publicly or inside DS office, it doesn’t matter.
Gustavo..
It’s called reading between the lines. Did Sutter come ut and say he should be playing? No…what he said was he doesn’t understand why the player’s not on the ice.
to me, that means he’s questioning Mitchell as to what the problem is and he’s obviously not getting an anser from him.
that’s how I read it, but everyone can read into these things differently.
In the end, we all want him back on the ice and playing. I’m beyond thrilled we won the cup but it’s all about what have you done for me lately.
I want to win the cup again..Having one of your best players sitting out with an injury the coach can’t even understand, does lead to questions.

@nykingfan, @Gustavo,
It’s starting to get very concerning because, after traveling and practicing with the team on the road trip, Willie didn’t skate this morning for the second straight day prompting DS to answer a question on his status, “I’m not a doctor or a psychologist.”
Last Wednesday, he stated, “You know what, he’s got doctor’s clearance. He’s got trainers’ clearance. Coaches want him to clear himself. So do it.”
That’s uncharacteristic for DS, especially since he seems to be contradicting WM’s assertion that he’s not ready yet.
So your perfectly correct there, @nykf, Coach did call him out in the media and clearly expressed having a problem with WM continuing making himself unavailable.
That all sounds like a little desperation to me and I really hope it doesn’t lead to a rift between Willie and the hockey club!
Either way, until we hear of anything personal going on with him or other unrevealed issues, judgement on his decision is reserved

@nykingfan,
Didn’t he say that his knee “blew up” (I assume that means swelling) after skating a couple of days ago? If so he needs to rest it for a few days.

It’d be foolish to discount the Cannots ‘burnt feeling’ after getting eliminated by the LAK in the first round of the playoffs. They should be bringing their A game to Staples Center for tonight’s game. Maybe they were looking to this game more than the one vs San Jose.
What I do not get, is why Hansen did not get a game misconduct or any supplementary discipline for cross checking the ref at center ice before the puck even dropped. I posted earlier it was Burrows who cross checked the ref. But unbelievable as it may sound, I was mistaken…
