Here’s what Avalanche head coach Joe Sacco had to say about playing the Kings tonight:
“It’s no secret that when we play these guys we have to be the hard-working team. I think LA presents challenges in may different phases of the game. ”
On going 4-0-0 against the Kings last season: “I thought our work ethic all four times was strong. We played the game the right way. We tried to limit turnovers. We tried to play in the offensive zone as much as possible…not making it a track meet type of game. We did that and we were committed to that game plan when we played LA last year.”
“It’s going to be an exciting game [tonight]. They’re a great team and we need our best tonight, no question.”
Not getting my hopes up for a W. tonight. This Colorado team has a unique energetic style which has proven very difficult for the Kings to play against. But am stoked to see some Kings hockey called by Bob and Jim!

Let’s hope our team can be Road Warriors again this year starting with tonight.
Rusty and tired was the first game – tonight they now have to be challenged without Greene – and play in the altitude.
But I know they will bounce back.
Guarantee a Win!

This is a chance for the Kings to establish themselves. Not a must win of course, but a good opportunity to show they will contend again this year. Quick has to be much better, as do the top two lines. Missing Greener is bad. Not the fastest skater, but a hard worker. And he is the guy that keeps the locker room lose. If a losing streak starts here, they will really miss his leadership.
Today is 10th day since the end of the lockout I’ve spent zero on the NHL.

This Kings team will not be a team to repeat this year. The momentum and drive from 2012 is gone. New contented (contract wise) players are on the roster. The hunger to succeed is not there. Look for teams with something to prove cash-in this year. Pittsburgh/Vancouver for the cup. Glad baseball season is almost here!
