On Saturday I was at the Culver Ice Arena for LA Kings Rink Fan Fest. Here are some pictures I took from the event. The last picture on here was from yesterday’s Land Of The Free Foundation Golf Classic held at the Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry.

Daryl spent time talking to a few of us during the regular off season at TSC. Good times…. This site should just shut down down till Hockey comes back….will run out of things to report…

@goldielocks,
in many ways, he’s right…and in many ways, he’s wrong…
what am i trying to say…(?)
maybe i’m a lil’ CBA’d-out, at this point…
principles vs. the economy vs. the owners vs. players future earnings potential vs. the fans…
but ultimately, the owners always overspend…and that’s why it’s hard for me to just agree for the NHLPA to give up and just settle…because we are bound to have this same situation come 2017-18….

@variable,
The funny thing is, NHLPA was attacking Recchi for his comment. Why would they do that if they believe they have every right or are standing correct in every way? Why can’t they just ignore what he said because it doesn’t matter right? Or do they actually feel guilty for pushing it this far?

@goldielocks,
good question…
i think they don’t want any players…current or retired…to go against or behind their backs…(the “ice blue wall”, if you will)…and profess negative judgment on how and what the NHLPA is trying to accomplish…
it seems to me that the players are even more in solidarity now than in 2003-04…
recchi has already made his fortune…it’s a lot easier to comment from afar when it doesn’t concern you anymore…

@variable,
That’s very true. I think NHLPA attacked Recchi because they are afraid that some players may agree with him, especially a low profile ones. For those who don’t have many years left in thir careers, now or never. For those who have big fat long term contracts like Crosby would back Don Fehr up in every way possible. Is player like Crosby speaking for everyone else also? I don’t think so. He’s speaking for himself and his ridiculous contract.
Bill Daly said the players are asking for guaranteed dollars + a ‘raise’ year-over-year. And the NHLPA’s latest offer would have the players making 65% of the HRR in Year 1 of the deal. I don’t know which HRR based on but assuming it’s from already reduced season. If players are asking 50% of 3.3 billion, that number Daly gave is pretty accurate.
I think players should look into the mirror and ask themselves. Is it right to ask that much while you’re not working when there are those who haven’t gotten payed because of the lockout? What would NHL do if they accept your demand? They will cut the salary or fire some hockey related employees to reduce the damage. Do you dare to make them suffer more?
How can they sleep in the night, I wonder.
thanks, DARYL…
great stuff…(!)
