My theory on the Fehr’s “leaked” memo is that perhaps Fehr left out the full information version as to discredit Bettman’s group when it will be found that Fehr did give the players all the information, just not all via that memo. Fehr gets Bettman to point fingers making him look bad in the end.

We’ll see.

One thing is for sure, this thing ain’t over by a long shot.

as long as they’re talking, there’s reason for some optimism….

but, LUC20RULES is right…an arbitrator is needed at this point…and both sides were searching for one last week…if talks break off again after this weekend for the worse, the sides will have no choice but to get a neutral party involved if they want to salvage this season….

both men are stubborn and indignant to their own causes…although i strongly favor fehr and his reasoning, it’s definitely time to get a neutral third-party involved…

@variable, Is it time to reach an agreement? Or is the stand for principles all that matters here, because if thats it the season is over. Then do you think if the season is lost completely that the NHL will agree to pay the players for this lost year 100% because in the future they will get 50/50 split that they want? (NO) Pay for lost games is like crying over spilled milk. The NHLPA would be better off asking for a 51/49 split both short and long term they would be more likely to get it.

you touched on something that i would love to know more about – how much profitability did the league lose in saving phoenix, florida and new jersey this year…?

how much money did they give the islanders over the last decade in pursuing a new arena…?

and yes, yr right – i do want to see the players getting full compensation for this year due to all the future concessions the NHL wants them to agree upon to get the game back on the ice…

remember, in the NFL, teams like the cowboys and owners like jerry jones can make separate advertising deals and corporate deals without the league’s mandate…which, in turn, can significantly improve the profitability of that franchise because teams like the cowboys are not obligated to share that revenue with the rest of the league…
