I had a chance to sit down with Dean Lombardi earlier this week and he went in many different directions and touched on many different topics. Below there are 41 images, all of which were mentioned in the interview (except 1). I will start posting the interview on Friday (not sure yet how many parts it will end up being). Until then (some are easy, some are not so easy, some are automatic) take a stab at identifying as many people, places, books, movies/actors or logos as you can, without cheating!

WTF?? man this place really has gone down hill…

What are you people complaining about? Hammond had intros to interviews many times over before he gave them. It wouldn’t surprise me that all of these subjects were discussed in an interview with Lombardi…
There is nothing to talk about. You’re going to take that out on Fox, Miller, and Evans? Really?

this is fantastic foxy! those images are so random, but i guess coming from Dean that’s to be expected. Hard to say what that “except 1″ is as I’m betting it’s something obvious like Jeter just to throw us off.
Thanks boys for all the hardwork in maintaining this blog. We do miss Hammond, as he’s been a staple to Kings reporting for so long. So ignore the haters, adjustment is always hard. Better to have you guys post up stuff than nothing at all. Hextall interview was phenomenal. Love hearing about players and management’s thoughts on things, so the more of that, the better.

today might be the most crucial day of negotiations…if momentum is lost after today, it’s gonna take longer for hockey to get back on the ice – if it does at all…
i sincerely thought that if the winter classic got cancelled, so would the season shortly after….i was wrong…however, I think if they can’t get at least 50 games in, it’s not much of a season…
reports say that the NHL only needs 10 says to get the season started if a deal is struck…
really….?
that seems optimistic to me….
anyway, with the 50/50 split being agreed to, the major topics still left on the table are…:
- the “make whole” provision that would honor current deals at their full value…
- entry-level contracts
- UFA rights
- escrow
those are just the major ones still needed to be agreed upon….
well…i’m starting to feel more optimistic right now…i hope I feel the same way tonigh/tmrw…(!)
as in life, this is a fluid situation…
stay thirsty, NHL and NHLPA…(!)

@variable,
The report said NHLPA offered 2 proposals. One for revenue sharing and one for “make whole provision”. As for the “make whole”, they are still proposing phase-in that gets 50/50 by year 3. So they withdraw the previous proposals to make “make whole”? NHL thought they agreed to it but apparently not.

luc20rules Reply:

@variable, The NHLPA should have made the “w” in “make whole provision” in caps because the past history is the NHL mounting the NHLPA every 7 years or so in negotiations.

I have been a silent reader of this blog for many years and am troubled about the comments that this blog and it’s content now being furnished by Fox, Miller, and Evans has gone down hill. I would like to commend and applaud these three great hockey people for there contributions to this blog for all Kings fans during this terrible lockout. Fox’s enthusiasm, Miller’s historical perspective, and Evans informative point of view are welcome in my eyes. Yes, Mr Hammond made this a very successful blog and place for all things Kings. But to be so googly eyed over him when he was an admitted non Kings fan is silly, and the bashing of his replacements is wrong. The Kings organization will find a great replacement to bring us news about the team we so dearly love. Until then, Thank you, Bob, Jim and Daryl. Looking forward to your DL interview Jim.

Yes, indeed. The ideal situation at this point is reaching agreement by the Thanksgiving, and opening the camp after that. So they can start the season Dec 1st.
There is a rumor for 72 game season but I don’t know … 60 games sounds reasonable to me.

@goldielocks, Word is that this season the NHL is planning to go thru the end of June. That means an extra 18 days to add to the regular season April 25th or so instead of the regular April 7th. Also I would imagine they would add about 6 days to the schedule by cancelling the All Star Game as well. They could likely save a few days by tightening up playoff schedules toward the end of the series. How many times did the Kings wait more then 10 days in the last playoffs for other teams to finish a series.
