Have to look back a second before I look ahead…Rich Hammond taught me many things over the years…I knew Rich was talented…I knew Rich had impeccable journalistic integrity…he knew when to go after a story and when it wasn’t so important to chase something…but…I want to thank Rich for reinforcing the principle that HARD WORK goes a long way…sometimes we get caught up in many different things but forget about the fundamentals…Rich taught me that there is no substitute for HARD WORK. Rich, good luck in your new endeavor, even though I know you don’t rely on luck!
Well said Jim.

@Goring 19, yeah my sentiments exactly, showed us all when to stick to our guns

Thanks Jim,
Yes us fans miss Rich and all the good and hard work he did for us here in the Blog and other places as well.
Miss Rich
;-(
Thanks Jim too for your hard work for us fans too!

I can see why he went elsewhere, when east coast writers are breaking a story about the Kings. The same Kings that are right next to him. Why would the management leak or give inside info about their own team when a guy they hired should have that news first hand????

excellent post, JIM…
almost everybody here has recognized RICH’s tireless work ethic and journalistic convictions…
RICH has expressed in great detail many times how much you, BOB, NICK and DARYL have meant to his career on this site…let it be known that many of us fans here and elsewhere, have acknowledged each one of yr efforts towards making this site – and our overall kings experience here, at games, at suite nights, at events and on television/radio – entertaining and awesome…you are all at the top of the food chains in yr chosen roles, respectively…
thank you for all yr current and future efforts in communicating and connecting with we, the fans/bloggers…
you guys make us realize how much hockey is alive and well in SOCAL, in spite of there being a lockout…
i look forward to more of each one yr contributions during this transition phase…:)))

…and that’s coming from a guy who played 578 games in the NHL. I knew Rich worked hard, but not THAT hard! Wow.

@Jim Hone your writing skills, be creative, and write often because it’s going to be a long non-season. If you’d like, you can pick our brains for topics to write about.

Well said Jim, and thank YOU for everything you do for us as well. You and Bob are the best TV guys there are. We’re very fortunate to have you doing color for the games, not to mention everything you do for the fans and community as a whole. If the whole league was as lucky as us Kings fans, the NHL might get the exposure it deserves.
We’re all going to miss Rich and all the great stuff he does, but having people like you and Bob (and other) step in here, it will help ease the transition I’m sure.

Seeing those small clips of you and Bob during a game working together made me realize just how hard it is doing your jobs. I hope some day I can have a chat with you. I’m dieing to know just what happened behind the scenes during the Florida game when the both of you made liberal use of the mute button. That has to be a very funny story.

@#19 watch out for these Kings fans/blogger they know a lot about NOT JUST the Kings but the ins and outs of the NHL AHL and others. They also have a voracious appetite for Kings news so we’ll need that frequently in the future!! Cheers!!
