We have “our” cup now, we can forgive Rob Blake.

@Weasel,
Forgiving does not equal forgetting. It’s like that business partner that stole 5 grand from you – you can forgive him, but he’s never coming over for a BBQ again.

@SDGolfer, Rehashing with a wink and my tongue in my cheek, yes. Bitter, not at all. Never was. I always liked Rob but understand fans who, like Michael said, won’t forget what went down. Personally, I hope he becomes involved with the again Kings one day.

@Paul Armbruster (KingsNewsDaily.com), my comment was to the blog, not just to you.
I laugh when people bash Blake for making money while he could all the while questioning his loayalties. While anybody else offered an opertunity to make more money
to privde for their family(which is what its all about, i’m pretty sure) would do it in a heartbeat. JMO.

@Subby,
Just read that story. I hope that’s good enough for the players to agree. I have to say I’m still mad at the league and Bettman for screwing it up in the previous CBA when they got everythingthey wanted (at that time).
But as fan I just want to see the team back on the ice. Following the Kings for the last 40 years has been “special”, I’d like to follow them as much as possible now because now it’ll be “SPECIAL!”
[Reply]
Always great to hear your perspective Daryl. The Kings have the best radio and tv broadcast teams in the league.
We are truely spoiled on that end.
The blog..not so much!

Thank God, a voice that we all respect in the middle of a dark FGB jungle! Welcome Darryl and we appreciate your work.

Hoprfully the PLAYERS will accept a 50-50 split. That’s meeting them half way. Please we need hockey and we need it now!!!!!

@King Charles of Salt Lake,
“That’s meeting them half way.”
That is precisely what the owners hope you would say and think. It’s PR my friend.

Hi Daryl,
Thanks good to see you having some fun out there, thanks and have a great day.
[Reply]
I’m kind of worried all this positive NHL stuff is just all PR and smoke and mirrors, but if it opens doors for legit negotiation to get done, that’s better than we’ve had for a while now. I’m hopeful, but not expectant.

@FiG17, the question is, why didnt they start negotiations that way instead?

FiG17 Reply:

@Sebastian,
Classic low ball move. From a business perspective, it makes perfect sense. Make a ridiculously low offer, let it sit for a month while everyone festers, then make an offer that’s not nearly as low, but still low and it now looks like an improvement that everyone can get on board with. If they started out with a 50/50 split, everyone would have seen it as a cutback, now we’re seeing it as progress.

@FiG17, So very true! Now the owners look like they are compromising when in reality they are still asking for way more than they are currently getting. I suggest referring to Rich’s Kevin Westgarth interview for a great explanation. Oh, wait. Never mind.

@FiG17,
yep…classic…
speaking about classics…this might be the NHL’s low ball approach to saving the Winter Classic…the problem is that Donald Fehr is one tough monkey when it comes down to fairness and principles…if he feels that this proposal disguises the other major issues yet to be reconciled, we are gonna be waiting a lil longer for the season to start…

I think the owners are doing what is best by preserving an 82games schedule. It would be in the players best interest to take this deal and get back on the ice. Look we all are suffering here. It’s time to sign the deal and get back to what really matters… Defending our Cup!!!

hey, DARYL…(!)…
welcome…;)
thanks for sharing the pics…
i’m neutral to pro-Blake …i understand both sides of the argument…however, Blake is a borderline first-ballot HOF – mainly because of his Olympic and international play victories…and a Norris and a Stanley Cup isn’t too shabby either…he was among the league’s top offensive defenseman for a long period of time and had one of the best hip checks in NHL history…
sure – he made fans mad with the sharks signing and becoming their captain…but so what…i can name dozens of players who have broken “promises” before…Blake’s execution was poor upon exiting…but it’s not unforgivable…he moved on and succeeded…and so did we – eventually…
personally, i hope he enters the HOF in a kings jersey…he did more good for the team and community than not…
maybe it’s time for the bitterness from his detractors to subside and recognize that he was a big part of this franchise’s history…
