@BakoCAkingsCondorsGuy, Hey, could you let us know if it does, we live in Paso Robles and it would be a closer drive than LA. My husband has been a fan through since the 70′s with all of their ups and downs. It would be so cool to get a pic with the cup. Plese keep in touch.
    Thank you

@Cortex949, Been going to both alternating now for years & dig both of them. For anyone who has not gone to either, get a ticket & go if you are a fan of horror and scares as they are a blast! I highy recommend front of the line passes due to the crowds.

The league allowing the Cup to be paraded around during a lockout is laughable.

Send the NHL a message boycott the events.

    Jon (@LAKingsJon) Reply:

@KOHO, Best comment I’ve seen so far. Don’t give them a penny or any of your time. I know, it’s The Cup but… the only action we have is no action at all. If they see merchandise prices fall to $0, on top of losing the revenue from games that should have been played, someone’s hand is going to be forced. I see a time coming when some small market teams just aren’t going to be able to wait it out. When that happens, some fans are going to be done for good, if they aren’t already.

    [Reply]

    Paul Armbruster (KingsNewsDaily.com) Reply:

@Jon (@LAKingsJon), I definitely agree with not supporting the NHL monetarily but going and seeing the Cup doesn’t do that I don’t believe. 2 of the events above appear to be free. And going to Knotts isn’t helping the NHL. The only thing might be the Ice Crew event to some degree but I believe those dollars go to the Kings Care foundation if I’m not mistaken. And many of those other events helped support local hockey clubs.

    [Reply]

    Finesse Hockey Reply:

    @KOHO,
Yet, it’s not just the Cup events…. it has to be the whole damn thing to make it work.

Get this, why do you think the NHL is only cancelling two weeks of games at a time???? Because it is a “slow drip” — they got us good….. If they cancel the whole season or only part of the season now, then all us fans on the “slow drip” will not be on this blog…. or hit the NHL webpage. If we stop going online, then the hits on the page goes down…. and so does the advertising revenue. We fans play into the lockout because we care… yet the money still flow…. and the “slow drip” continues.
Bettman…. is our supplier and local pusher…. yet we criticize him, blame him (and rightly so) and, obviously, we just can’t get enough.

Just take a look at the Kings webpage…. gotta go thru that Carls Junior ad before you see Kings Vision…. Do you think Carls Junior wants the season to be cancelled…. not as long as we are slobbering over that hottie eating her first burger ever.

    [Reply]

    KOHO Reply:

I guess my point is if the league is going to lock out players, close offices and lay people off to get what they want then shut the whole damn thing down and put the Cup back in the HOF until it’s over.

There is no use prancing the Cup around when you have no intention of having your employees compete for it, the Cup is bigger than the league but don’t use it to keep people interested in something you care nothing about.

I liked this article, because it is the simple truth. Remember owners are not GMs. The Owners of NHL franchises oddly enough would probably list another sport as their favorite. If anyone is to make a concession for the sport, fans, and/or arena employees it will be the players.

everything which is happening right now doesn’t take away from how happy i felt about a group of guys who fought for each other, played the right way, and pulled off upset after upset. A bunch of suits aren’t going to ruin that memory for me and i felt happy to see their names alongside the owner and coaches who made those memories possible.

Question for Rich, or anyonw else on here who is expert enough to comment: (If the question has already been asked and answered, I apologize.)

We are seeing many players now signing interim contracts with European teams. Already, one of them–Rick Nash–has been injured playing in one of these leagues. (Haven’t heard what his status is since the announcement. Has anyone?) My question is: what happens NHL contract-wise if a player is injured playing in another league and is unable to perform because of this for his NHL team when the season begins?

    [Reply]

    CB14 Reply:

@Russ Dynda, If they are injured playing for a different league, their NHL team is not obligated to pay their contracts. Most of the players buy insurance for their NHL contracts when they play in Europe.

Here’s an excerp from a Scott Burnside article about Andrew Ference playing in the Czech Republic, ” To protect the final year of his deal, one that would pay him $1.4 million after taxes, Ference’s insurance costs are $7,500 a month.” Pretty expensive when you factor in what guys are paid in Europe.

    Here’s a link to that article: http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/8460881/nhl-playing-czech-republic-lockout-old-times-andrew-ference
