The Stanley Cup made one final official “visit” today when Kings scout Denis Fugere got time with it in Quebec before it went for engraving. The second-to-last stop came yesterday, when Kings president Luc Robitaille got his official day with the Cup in Quebec. Here’s a must-read story from Helene Elliott of the L.A. Times, who chronicled the day with Luc and his family, including his mother, Madelaine, who is battling liver cancer. Make sure to click the “related photos” link to see some great artwork as well…
What a classy move by a classy guy.
Sending get well wishes from all the fans in the Kings family to yours.

Can’t think of a better person to escort the Cup to Montreal for engraving. Of course, Luc will always find a way to make a negative situation into a positive one. Our best wishes to Luc’s mom and her family.

That explains why he didn’t take it to Detroit for his day with the cup.

Thanks, Rich. I was one of the few that didn’t cry at Game 6 of the Finals. I’ve never been one to cry at happy occasions. I was moved to a great level of emotions on that day. But this article, had me balling. Its really amazing how in a period of personal turmoil Luc has been such a great embassador of the Kings and the NHL. I would like to extend my well wishes and prays for Madelaine Robitaille and Family you’ve produced one of the Greatest NHL Players, but also its Greatest Son. Get Well Soon.

A moving article. Thank you Luc for everything you’ve brought to the King’s organization and all the fun I had watching you from day one as a rookie to present day. I’ve seen it all and you’ve been nothing but class all the way.
