It’s strange, for many previous summers at this time we would have been jonesing for more Kings hockey for many months already. Checking the Google for the big free agent fish news half a dozen times a day, clinging to the hope of the slim chance our Kings would land him.
The excitement, anticipation and hope for those past new seasons seemed almost stronger in a way.
It has been replaced with a feeling of satisfied contentment, almost zen like.
It is a good problem to have having to get used to the unfamiliar territory of being a fan addict of a team in the aftermath of their very first Championship run.
God I love this team.

@King Cobra, I couldn’t f’ing agree more except that Im waiting to hear about who will fill kompons spot. Also REALLY hoping season starts on time! Die hard fan for 22 years and glad we didn’t win the cup in an abreviated lock out year. We fans have been through enough to have an asterisk by our first Stanley cup. The Los Angeles Kings are Stanley Cup CHAMPIONS! JUST SAYIN.

@King Cobra,
Agreed! It used to be that I’d care about the draft during summertime and prosepect reports and trying to land the big free agent…but now none of that stuff really matters. Who cares – we won the Cup
Plus of course the whole roster is coming back so no need to worry about filling in holes.

@King Cobra, It’s a nice feeling to have a team that can pick and choose the players they want to add to the team (if any) rather than being the team practically begging players to join this team! I think they are so confident now and that they will come out swinging and taking no prisoners and hopefully the season will start on time. It’s hard to repeat as proven by Boston last year but, I would be surprised if the Kings didn’t finish w/ at least 105 points if they have a full next season. They know who they are and how good they now and I believe they’ll show it from the git-go. Plus their new ass. coach, maybe 110 points.

awesome cup coverage!
does anybody have any idea when the “Bob & Jim Game 6″ DVD will be released? bonus points if it is a free download with purchase of the BluRay/DVD pack. I hope AEG/NHL aren’t going to go all George Lucas on us and make us re-buy a bunch of times

@Lake Forest, tomorrow is the official NHL one. while it may contain small portions of the bob and jim call – i’m fairly certain it does not have the whole game called by them.

I wonder if they will be eating smorgasbord out of the Cup in Viking?

simple is as simple does…..
great vids….
when ds brought the cup to the first place we saw on the video, it looked like s volunteer yoga class session taking place….for ds, it’s never about quantity, it’s always quality….
there’s no fanfare…
there’s not ticker-tape parade….
there’s no key to the city….
however. there’s a bridge table there….with a few $1 balloons….
for ds, it’s all about the heartland of canada…and in many ways, ds’s heartland reflects his heartbeat – steady and able…in control while celebratory….
the cup is and has surely gone to more exotic places before…and forthcoming….
but no day with the cup can be called more appropriate…:
ds…
the cup…
the community…
the smiles…
the simplicity…
dd has done a remarkable transformation since his coaching days at calgary…maybe his days as the often ridiculed gm of the flames had a humbling affect on his “confrontational, in yr face”, persona…
he still gets the message across – mind you – in his own sutter speak….
but his message is not only being heard…but absorbed and implemented…
he still has some issues with reacting to line changes from the other team….but overall, ds has made a believer of not only us but his players….
and his day with the cup in many ways resembles the simplicity of his message to his players – he can even make the entrance of the cup seem humbling….
there are some coaches who peak early….i’m hoping ds is a late-bloomer that can use his own unique vocabulary and syntax to inspire our boys for years to come…
dean went all-in….and he came up hitting the jackpot….:)

Hello, you have reached the voicemail (yaaaawwwnnnn) box of Dean Lombardi, general manager of the STANLEY CUP CHAMPION Los Angeles Kings hockey club. I can’t come to the phone (yaaaaaawwwnnnn) right now, so please follwo the prompts or leave a message. If you are another general manager seeking the services of Jonathan Bernier, please press “1″ and get in line. I ain’t in no hurry to move him, so you will just have to make a better offer. If this is the NHL Network, please press “2″ for my quotes for any pending interviews you may be planning. Let me make it even simpler – you suck! The only coverage you have given us is the congratulatory ads. If this is the Hall of Fame looking to get the coins we buried inthe ice at the start of the season, forget about it since we will be putting them back in this season. If you are a general manager or owner seeking my input on the CBA, just sign it for the next 3 years so we can get more Cups. If this is Shane Doan, please press “3″ to hear our whining response to your demand for $7 million and our wish for you to have fun losing in Philly or New York. If this is Mark Davis from the Raiders, yes, we stole your team colors, yes, they helped us win the Stanley Cup, and yes, they helped us bring another championship to LA, but no, we ain’t paying you anything for them, and yes, the Chargers suck. If you are applying for the assistant coaches position, please press “4″ to be placed in direct contact with Coach Sutter. I would recommend overalls, rubber galoshes and a flannel shirt for the interview. Taking a shovel and wearing a straw hat would probably help also.
Other, than that (yaaaawwwnnnn), please leave a message because I have been so busy this off-season.

If we trade Bernier, I don’t know if we need another player for our current roster. I’d prefer we trade for a first round draft pick. Maybe Bernier and a lower round pick for a 1st round pick.

@King John, Yes, Toronto’s or Columbus’s 1st round pick would be delightful. At least it would give us something to discuss next June/July.

@Paul Armbruster (KingsNewsDaily.com), Forgive the question, but is this the KINGS DVD, or the NHL Network DVD? The NHL one, I think, has the Pierre Maguire team blathering. I want Bob & Jim’s call!!!

@Forum to Staples Fan,
It is a documentary-style video of the Kings run. Here is a preview of the DVD, which hints at having SOME of Bob’s call. http://bit.ly/MSxnvV
However, this is NOT the entire Game 6 broadcast with Bob and Jim and there’s no word as to when that DVD might come out.
