The Stanley Cup is spending parts of a couple days in Alberta with Darryl Sutter and family. Tonight, it will be in Red Deer as part of the Sutter brothers’ annual charity event: the Sutter Fund Golf Classic. Sutter said that tomorrow, he will have the Cup at home with family and some live country music
The Cup remains on tour. Here are a couple stories about its respective days with Colin Fraser and Simon Gagne, followed by the updated Cup tracker map…

Darryl, how was you day with the cup?
“Awesome…”

DS deserves a month with the cup. What influence he has on a team that had the talent but just could not put it together. He needs to be put in the same category as Phil Jackson (the zen master). If he could change the Kings in a few months, I can’t wait to see what he can do with their summer camp and next season. Thank you Daryl!!

Hopefully there is a gem of a shot with Sutter on his tractor pulling a hay wagon with the cup in tow.

An iconic image for the ages to be sure …. but one that may figure never to be adopted as the main photo gracing the top of the official Kings webpage..

When TM heroically hoists the Calder Cup next season and joins John Stevens in the Adirondack Phantoms Hall of Fame, you will be laughing laconically on the other side of your poker-faced plate of nachos.
And you can mark my carefully chosen, neutrally delivered, inoffensive words!

@puck73,
it’s a blurb that has been published two days in a row ion espn’s “rumor” page….
there probably is some legitimacy about it….tsn hasn’t mentioned it yet….if they start to report on it, you know things are starting to heat up….

@variable, The cool thing is, because of our depth, the Kings dont have to do anything. Sure it would be nice to get something valuble for JB, but only if someone is willing to pay. The fact is, he is 23, and we own his rights til he is 27 so if someone wants to sign him to a ridicolous offer sheet at some point, then we will just take the bushel of draft picks for him!
Michael J. Reply:

@variable,
Unless the offer is “too good to be true” there is no way I trade JB. He is one heck of an insurance policy. Like I said before, if he plays like a #1 I am sure that DL will have no problem getting what he wants in return for JB.
The harder he works and the better he plays, the sooner JB gets his #1 gig. Funny how that didn’t work for his #1 fan though…

@Michael J., I totally agree. We have nothing we desperately need, in fact we have more players than roster spots open as it is. No need to shop this guy around. Let someone get on their hands and knees and beg and plead.

yeah…it would have ti be a huge offer…and then the kings would probably go out a get a veteran back up…

@variable,
Roloson…..I like Roloson until Jones is ready. Experienced, good locker room mate and already said he likes to mentor younger players. Worth a 1-2 yr contract at $1.5-2.0 mill per year.

@variable, Not enough money out there or draft picks for JB for me. We like him just where he is. If JQ gets hurt, we can carry on like nothing hit us. Look out we’re going for number 2.

@Stuart,
You know I took the liberty of researching this strange term and I miraculously learned a brand new phrase!
I’m glad we have hicks on here from the outlying regions of the County so that the rest of us may be brought down to speed.
And I say this with the greatest degree of affection, since the other 36,440 around here probably fit seemlessly into this otherwise unseemly category.
So well done, sir!
You qualify for a weekend stay for two (probably have to jettison the kids) in a semi-luxury mobile unit in a rustic setting that is nonetheless main highway adjacent and has a charming mildly stocked grocery store within hobbling distance.
Hey I’m tellin’ ya, Tex swears by the place!
