After a couple days in Massachusetts, the Stanley Cup has reached Quebec, to be enjoyed by Jonathan Bernier and Simon Gagne. A couple public events have been announced for those who might be in the area. Bernier will host the Cup today from 1:30-3 p.m. Eastern time at the Yvon Chartrand Arena in Laval, Quebec. On Friday, Gagne will make the Cup available from 4-5:30 p.m. Eastern time at the Le Relais ski center in Lac-Beauport.
I’ve been updated the Stanley Cup tracker map I created, with all the recent stops and pictures. You can find that by clicking here. Yesterday, the Cup spent some time with Mark Yannetti, the Kings’ co-director of amateur scouting. Phil Pritchard, one of the gentlemen charged with transporting the Cup around the world, got this great photo of the Cup next to its cake counterpart. Phil posts some great photos on his Twitter account, which can be found by clicking here.

Drew Doughty could eat that whole cake.

Isn’t it amazing. We still have 11 more months of saying “WE GOT THE CUP!” before we then get to say “WE GOT THE CUP AGAIN!!” Thank you LA Kings!

@DesertKing, Agreed DK This is going to be a fun ride with this bunch of guys. I think Doan will not sign with us, and it will be his mistake. I just have a feeling he will become another dried up tumbleweed in the desert

Much like the signing last season, this thing hanging over Dewey is starting to sound more serious than it did at first. :-/

@What’s the frequency, Kenneth?, It’s actually the opposite. If they had credible facts to charge him, they would. Since they haven’t charged him they don’t have enough facts or the witness to the facts is not credible. It is not a difficult standard for the police to get enough facts for a charge and arrest. Have you ever heard the expression, “You can indight a ham sandwich.”
The fact that this continues to lag on without charges being filed against DD is not worrisome, but rather a sign that the police are using their resources to pursue cases that are winnable.

@OCKingGirl, But there was this apparent certainty that the charges would be dropped quickly. The fact that it didn’t happen remotely that quickly is disturbing. Maybe they’re being uncharacteristically thorough before they a) soil his reputation, b) call a victim a liar.
(As you can tell, I haven’t jumped to any conclusions, but I still lean toward the benefit of the doubt, as is our tradition.)
ot….wouldnt it be great if Hockey had a summer league…Basketball does..Baseball has winter leagues…It would help grow the sport(giving NHL something to air on T.V. instead of replays)..injured players could come back and play a few games to get back in game shape etc..I love the summer league of Basketball…..

@kingszzz, LOL! The cake looks great, except for the layer right beneath the cup part. That layer looks a little crooked. When the pic finally loaded, I thought it was one of those inflatable SC’s that they were selling, albeit one with that could’ve used a little more psi… but considering all the hard work that someone(s) went through to make that cake, I give it a solid A+!

@kingszzz, the top wasn’t crooked when the day started but gravity and 80* heat did take its toll…I can say though it was a little less dented and “experienced” than the actual cup…but despite being delicious it still was not nearly as sweet!

No, sorry. As I’ve said before, most of these days are private events with players. As I’ve indicated, when I get word of public events — there’s usually at least one in every area — I will do everything I can to post them as soon as possible.

To all my fellow Kings fans HAPPY MONIVERSARY of the best morning EVER! Yes I just made up that word. Moniversary = 1 month anniversary All I know is that even though I didn’t get much sleep that night when I woke up one month ago today I had the most incredible feeling ever – and it still hasn’t gone away! I love this feeling!

OK, I realize that it was posted 2 days ago but I just read on NHL.com that Kings forward Kevin Westgarth is one of 11 players representing the players association during CBA negotiations. Even though I remember that he was an Ivy Leaguer, still I am impressed with the heavy responsibility that he has shouldered.

@puck73, I’m thinking the two aren’t necessarily unrelated. Not suggesting funny business–pressure, maybe. My opinion on the issue is that he probably gets a bit more criticism than he deserves, as it’s hard to understand his position. For most of us, I think if someone tells us about a crime at work, reporting it to our superiors is the only responsible action. Maybe he could have done more. Can’t say I know, and I”m pretty sure most of the critics don’t either. I guess maybe it’s better not to judge what other people DON’T do.

Question for those of you “in the know”: does Bernier get his name on the Cup ? I know the rule about minimum # of games played and/or appearing in the Finals, but didn’t know if there might be some wiggle room for a backup goalie who was with the team all season ?

He was on the active roster for 82 regular-season games and all 20 playoff games, so he qualifies under any scenario.
