Craig Renetzky, the attorney for Drew Doughty, has said that a charging decision on Doughty’s case is ”not likely to occur today” but that a decision ”will most likely be made on Tuesday.” Doughty has been accused of rape by a 25-year-old woman. Renetzky has said, throughout the past week, that he does not expect the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office to file charges, but no official decision has been announced.

Hello, you have reached the voice mail for Dean Lombardi, general manager of the Stanley Cup Champions Los Angeles Kings hockey club. Let me repeat myself – the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings. Unfortunately, I am very busy right now getting ready for our defense of the Cup and cannot take your call. Please follow the prompts and leave a message. If this is Steve Tambellini, please press “1″ and set a date for a poker game so I can take you to the bank again. If this is Commissioner Bettman, no, I won’t give the Cup back. If this Jon Quick’s agent, please press “2″ for our latest offer, in fact don’t bother since the offer hasn’t changed and still remains “Just name it.” If this is Ryan Clowe, please stop calling me since the answer is still “no,” we won’t give you a Stanley Cup ring even though you helped us win it. If this is Gloria Allred calling about the Doughty case, please press “3″ to speak to our legal department and then press “4″ for fashion advice such as “stop wearing red, it makes you look old and nasty, try black, silver and white.” If this is Zach Parise, please press “4″ to talk to Ron Hextall about our latest offer, and yes, if you sign, we will let you touch the Cup. If this is Phil from the Hall of Fame, I apologize for the lttle incident with the Cup in Vegas, I promise it won’t happen again, and yes, we deleted all of the photos from our phones and cameras. If this Ilya Kovalchuk, please press “5″ to hear our contract offer again from 2010 so you won’t feel so bad knowing you chose to be on a losing team. Other than that, leave a message and I will get back to you after I finish polishing the Cup with Luc.

This brings bad memories of another Staples Center player accused of rape in CO. The jury was a wise group who saw past the media circus the accuser, the DA and the attorneys created. In the end the proof was in the pudding, so to speak. As it turned out, the first 8 inches were consensual. It was the last 4 that caused all the hoopla. Here is hoping this does not become a game of inches.

This is Brendan Shannahan of the NHL department of player safety.
on a Friday night in Hermosa Beach an incident occurred between Drew Doughty and a Devils fan (possibly a Ducks fan).
As the video clearly shows, Doughty was given permission on enter the devils fans offensive zone and he scores into the empty net.
To summarize, when Doughty scores the goalie was not on the ice and made no attempt to stop the puck, therefore the goal stands and is considered a legal goal.
in the future, the onus is on Doughty to minimize contact or avoid it completely.
The department of player safety has decided to suspend Drew Doughty from drinking diet coke and eating doughnuts for 3 months!

Therefore the Department of “Player” Safety has decided to sanction Drew Doughty with a 10 game supply of prophylactics, and a quick slap on the wrister.

I will not speculate one way or the other on the accusations made against DD. I was not there nor am I an investigator on the case. I will stick to the laws of the land, innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If DD did it and it is proven in court, he deserves whatever punishment the court/jury decides. If no case is brought forward, then this all goes away. It is telling that Ms. Allred has not held a press conference yet. This woman lives to chase cases just like this and her silence so far sepaks volumes.

@King Alex,
An Allred press conference will happen for a CIVIL court trial.
This is a criminal case at the moment. No money in it yet. It may yet happen even without it going to a criminal trial.

@Kingsfanone, Being a civil case or criminal casse never kept Ms. Allred from speaking her mind. She tries cases in the court of public opinion which has not one thing to do the a court of law. She is a shakedown artist through & through.

I agree. Silence is not her m.o., no matter if it’s criminal or civil.

Penns can be let go now. We have a new improv King!

Listen…if anyone can make Penner a better player than he was the last few months it would be Sutter. The fact that Dean and Darryl teamed up to give this guy a big ass chance should give Penner enough reason to want to come back where he is wanted. He would be stupid not to. He’s the kind of guy who seems a little sensitive and I believe loves to be motivated and felt he is wanted and needed. Some big dudes are like that.

However long the police can keep this open without filing charges is likely how long it will take. In a high profile case like this they are likely just waiting to make sure no witness or evidence doesn’t turn up. I do think it is a good sign that they have not pressed charges. They would have already if sufficient evidence existed.

@luc20rules, I should add if he is guilty he should be charged, but at this point I would think that is not going to be the case. I just don’t think Drew is that type of person, but I clearly don’t know for certain what happened.

im sure she knows how much Doughty is worth and wants a cut of that. she knew who he is and what she is doing.

DD is a great player and will (hopefully) continue to get better, but definitely needs to assume more responsibility…I Know it can’t be easy….being young and in the spot light…a millionare with such a great future…that is where the responsibility lyes…people know you…they have you in the cross hairs…you have to realize that…you have to be smarter than that…you have to have a paranoia button that is constantly ringing in your head…I am almost certain that DD is innocent of these charges, but he put himself in a bad situation…with somone who he did not know well and could not trust…hopefully, he will only recieve a good scare from this and a lesson learned

Rape is thought to be the most under reported crime, there is, potentially only 1 rape in 4 is reported. Does this mean, that no one has ever reported a rape, that did not occur, of course not. Hopefully, this is a situation, where 2 fairly young people crossed signals, about what the end of a datte would entail. Yes Drew’s contract and fame, make him a target, but his youth also makes him prone to mistakes on and off the ice. As a king’s fan and a man I hope he did nothing wrong. As an observer of News, I hope that whatever happened, and I’m pretty sure I’ll never know, what happened, that Drew learns from the situation, and does not repeat whatever action led to this allegation, true or false.

Are these accusations or where are we on this rape case?
Disturbing.
[Reply]
Why should we believe Doughty is innocent? He is not an NBA player…
False allegations are worse than true allegations.
[Reply]
I was hoping this would be settled by now. I understand they need to cover everything in this case but honestly, this is hurting the alleged victim and the alleged suspect and their families, and quite a few fans. To the young woman involved in this I wish I could say I pray you are OK. No one at all wants an injustice but I also hope we are all being told the truth … the entire truth. No half truths, no sort of or technically true. I don’t like sounding like I doubt a victim but where do these reports of credibility issues come from? People lie all the time. I’ve witnessed trials that involve Gloria Allred, it would be bad to make a fool of her or the Los Angeles County DA by not being completely honest with them.

@Mark, Dave Chapelle’s love contract, don’t forget the check boxes for the specific acts.
No bairring on the Doughty Case, but attaching this story about Brian Banks H.S. Footbal Star falsely accused and falsely found guilty. Got to love how she says she wants to tell the truth, but not give back any of the 1.5 million settlement she got from the Long Beach School District from this false rape and assualt case. In another article supposedly her mother convinced her not to tell the truth when she felt guilty a month after the he was sentenced to 10 years, because they would have to give back the 1.5 mil settlement since the non-rape occured on school grounds.

Wednesday and still no word on whether or not he’ll be charged?
[Reply]
Seems to me that since the LA District Attorney has NOT YET filed charges…even a week after the lawyer said they were supposed to make a decision does not bode well for Mr. Doughty. Charges against celebrities, more recently in this TMZ driven frenzy to get headlines, are usually expedited. Could there be some fire amongst this smoke???? If not, and I sure hope not, why have they not been dropped?
