Evening reading: Quick, Perry and photo fun

A few things… First, the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Stanley Cup Journal page has been updated with a few photos from the Kings’ championship parade and rally. Before all that started, the Kings took their team photo, as well as the above neat photo. Take a look at the team photo, because it’s a rarity. Standing in for Dean Lombardi, who was unavailable to be in the photo at that time, is Jeff Moeller, the team’s senior director of communications. The official photo, thanks to photo editing, will have Lombardi’s mug there.

Also, a couple items. First, you probably remember how Jonathan Quick’s 2-year-old daughter, Madison, became the star of the Game 6 postgame press conference. In a People.com item, Quick talked about his daughter’s newfound fame. Also, speaking of fame, in an NHL.com story, actor Matthew Perry talked about hosting a Stanley Cup party at his house over the weekend and his long-time, real-life “role’’ as a Kings fan.

    Thanks, Rich, I am sure the rest of the NHL doesn’t spoil its fans with coverage like this.

    I would like to go on record as saying I was wrong to complain about starting in Europe, and having both games there count as home games. As I look back just about everything had to happen the way it did for the Kings to make this perfect run. The Kings did everything they could and DL rewarded them with the Carter Deal. Then, they just willed themselves to 3-0 series leads and the rest is history. Stanley Cup Winning History.

    @luc20rules, I think the Carter trade was done to save his job. If the Kings missed the playoffs Dean would’ve been gone. What a difference 3 months makes huh?

    [Reply]

    luc20rules Reply:

    @CB14, You may be right on that one. I know many here were calling for his job, and even before this year. Also if they fired TM a month earlier and were in place to make the playoffs at the deadline the Carter trade likely doesn’t happen either. Its amazing if you just look at all the major factors and how everything had to happen exactly as it did to get here.

    @luc20rules, Very true.

    Duncanz Reply:

    @CB14,
    That’s kind of the cynical view of it, though.
    Coulda, woulda, mighta …
    The move was made. It succeeded. Everything else is moot, surely!!
    Why even second guess it at this point?
    If being a GM is like chess, Dean Lombardi has proven to be a Master.
    The greatest of the Masters, like many of the great hockey players, rise to the pinnacle.
    Dean Lombardi is a Champion.
    No questions asked! No second guesses!

    Could someone let the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Stanley Cup Journal know that they misspelled Jarret Stolls first name on their page.

    Shuchuk Reply:

    @luc20rules, I wouldn’t mind if there was a misspelling or two, it might be what motivates them to win another cup ;)

    “When we score a goal, she gets scared because the horn’s so loud, but she loves watching the games”

    Well… the offense mystery is solved. It’s endearing that all the players love Madison so much that they were so hesitant to score goals and scare her.

    At least Mr. Perry didn’t drink Red Bull and vodka from the cup. I’d have to pull the D-bag card on him if he did… Anyone else find it curious NBC was promoting his new show, which debuts in the fall, during the SC Finals in June??? Gotta hand it to his PR person for keeping tabs on Kopi’s whereabouts in early April.

    So no reports of any Kings being injured or fighting other ailing issues through the post season? I’m baffled they made it through 20 physical games without any…but definitely glad it happened that way.
