What’s Doughty’s problem??? This is Los Angeles. And it’s OUR day. Lose the Toronto Blue Jay hat.

    What an arrogant jerk….

    And I’m an Angel fan.

    Lithium Reply:

@dahack11 Some people just have to complain about SOMETHING. Sit back and enjoy it why don’t you? Did Doughy not give his all on the ice? For YOUR entertainment. What more do you want from the guy? Now you want to control what kind of hat he wears on his own time? Give me a break. Go watch the basketball game or something. Who’s really the arrogant jerk?

    [Reply]

    Mel Powell Reply:

@dahack11, I respect Drew for it. That’s his childhood team. He’s a fan. If I moved to Dallas, I’d still be wearing my Kings stuff. At least he did wear a Dodger Cap at the Dodger game. :-)

    [Reply]

    RobSD Reply:

    @Mel Powell,

True that on the dodger hat. Drive grew up a Kings fan and jays fan. He brought us our first cup and played like the all star we hoped. I’d rather have him in an LA hat… But I’ll let it slide. He’s 22! I was a little bastard at 22… Still am actually. Voynov looks like a baby!

    [Reply]

    dahack11 Reply:

@RobSD, Totally understand Mel…..& thanx for making my point w/ “the little bastard” comment.

    that was my first thought….

Am i glad DD play’s for us? Of course! does it bother me he’s a Blue Jays diehard fan? Absolutely not. But there’s a time & place for everything.

DD’s a man on the ice…..but a VERY immature 22 year old off of it.

    McSorleyfan Reply:

@RobSD, a los Angeles hat, NOT an Anaheim hat!

    SpencerMaze Reply:

@dahack11, I have zero problem with DD wearing that cap. No problem at all. Obviously it meant a lot to him to wear that hat. Drew was instrumental in this Championship so maybe we can cut the man a little slack regarding what friggin’ hat he’s wearing!!!!!!

    [Reply]

    dahack11 Reply:

@SpencerMaze, Since when does doing the “right thing” take a backseat, just b/c a player plays for our team????

    [Reply]

    egmorris Reply:

@SpencerMaze, yeah – maybe that’s his hometown tribute. maybe a shout out to his dad, or friends, or family back home. who knows. we dont. I think greene and quick really like those dodger hats though, which I love.

    [Reply]

    loskingpride Reply:

@egmorris, Heidi and Patrick talked about it at the beginning of the parade. It’s his lucky hat and that’s why he always wears it.

    KINGSFAN4LIFE Reply:

@dahack11, its his lucky f`n hat, maybe he should throw that good luck charm out and see how we ” KINGS” do next season!…

    Deke'r Reply:

    @dahack11, ….screw baseball…

    [Reply]

    dahack11 Reply:

    @Deke’r, it’s not ABOUT baseball Deke’r……

It’s about respect. The city of Los Angeles has waited a LONG time for this parade. It’s ABOUT the city of Los Angeles. It’s not about baseball or Drew Doughty.

    CMaldo Reply:

@dahack11, The Los Angeles Kings have won the Stanley Cup.

Read that sentence back to yourself and question whether or not a players apparel should make a difference.
I wouldnt care if the entire team wore caps from clubs that have nothing to do with LA, as long as they play their heart out for the silver and black.

Don’t let a cap ruin a moment that alot of us have waited for most of our lives.

    Just my opinion.

    mrbrett7 Reply:

@dahack11, I think you need to take your own advice. Seriously…do you honestly care if he is streaking naked on the bus?

LA is a city of transplants…I sincerely doubt anyone even really noticed.

    Robert R Reply:

@dahack11, You made a big deal because a player wore a certain cap.

    Amazing.

    Grow up.

    [Reply]

    Joe Reply:

@dahack11, I think It was Toronto Who had Sent Doughty the Hat to specifically wear In Interviews ect., Toronto even got Mad at Doughty for not wearing It once In an Interview, That’s Why. But I agree just because Toronto Is basically making him wear It, lol.

    [Reply]

    KindSir Reply:

@dahack11, Guess what bud? The angels aren’t even a part of Los Angeles. So who’s the arrogant jerk now? Why don’t you support your Los Angeles Dodgers not those frauds from ANAHEIM who wish they were in LA

    [Reply]

    mrbrett7 Reply:

@dahack11, I moved from LA to Denver…by your logic, I should be an Avalanche fan. 30 years of bleeding Kings means nothing to people like you.

    [Reply]

    dahack11 Reply:

@mrbrett7, Where did i say ANYTHING about changing who he roots for??? In fact, I specifically mentioned that i had NO PROBLEM w/ him rooting for the Blue Jays.

My problem is this is a LOS ANGELES parade for the citizens of LOS ANGELES.

Not one player on the Kings grew up in, or anywhere near, Los Angeles. Only a few were even born in the USA. Yet ONLY one chose to wear a hat representing another city. ALL other players had better sense & chose to RESPECT the host city.

    Interesting dilema…

    [Reply]

    Bob Bobson Reply:

@SLIM, I would take him and his physical play on a year to year basis at a lower cap hit. Seems like contract years are the only time he plays hard.

    [Reply]

    RobSD Reply:

    @Bob Bobson,

I disagree. With the exception of the playoffs, he blew. 2 years, 4 million. He already had his payday contract. Hope he had a prenup.

    [Reply]

    SpencerMaze Reply:

@SLIM, Yes it is isn’t it? I have a feeling Dean will let him walk but boy he was certainly instrumental in winning this deal wasn’t he??

    [Reply]

    Robert R Reply:

@SLIM, This is a 20-man unit, the Kings, and sometimes tinkering with it–to make it “better”–ends up making it worse. Yeah the numbers weren’t great for Penner this year, but maybe he brings more to the table than we realize. Had he really been a liability, would Coach have used him in the postseason? Wouldn’t his minutes drastically dropped off? What does he contribute to the “room”? Had the team fallen short, we could say that we’ve got to step it up. We didn’t fall short–say hallelujah!–so I’m a little leery of changes. My 2 cents.

  16. john says:

This year’s Kings captured the essence of what the late John Wooden understood better than just about anyone, the importance of teamwork and comraderie in winning championships. Everyone is quick to point out the spectacular plays by Kopitar, Carter, Richards, Williams, Brown and Doughty. Perhaps less noticed, but equally important was the relentless work of Lewis, Stoll, King, Fraser, Penner on the forecheck and Greene, Scuderi and Mitchell blocking shots and taking lumps to clear the puck from the Kings’ end. Congratulations to this fabulous team. I’ve been on board as a Kings’ fan for 40 years and have never been prouder. Have a great, restful and safe off season Kings players, and then let’s get ready to rock and roll again in 2012-13. What a high!

I’m begging…does anyone know if the parade and rally will be available for purchase at any time soon?

The whole of event was much better than I thought it would be. I pictured something like at fan fest, but this was a packed Staples house and about as loud as it was during any game. Great fun, great fans and a great team.

Highlights for me … DS fist pumps, Luc’ email from Dionne, hearing the last period of game 6 with Bob Miller and Fox calling it.

What an epic end to an epic year.

Been a sports fan my whole life. Watched all the sports and saw lots of stuff, but there ain’t nothing like this! I’m bawling my eyes out like a baby! I don’t know if these guys truly understand how much pain and suffering they’ve relieved. I know there’s matters in life that are much greater than a game, but along with a lot of other people, I know from now that I will RIP when the time comes. The Kings hoisting the Stanley Cup was a dream I’ve had since being a kid! God save the Kings! Thank you all!!!

I wish I could have talked to some of YOU great Kings fans at the parade/rally. (Everyone that I talked to said they were NOT familiar with LAKingsInsider.com)

I probably walked past some of you, but did not know who anyone was.

Too bad some of those jerseys couldn’t have had like your Insiders nicknames on the back of them instead of Kopi, Brown and Quickie.

    Oh well. A magical day.

  29. Yellow Pants says:

My best moment was Brownie calling out his only bad moment of the playoffs — not having Bob call the playoffs.. and finals. Bob was obviously touched, and that was really cool right there. I also thought someone should have tapped TM on the back.. Taylor got his shout out for smart early drafting .. TM got us from A to W.. and DS from X to Z. This team had no real problems scoring goals until we lost SG.. DL filled that spot and away we went.. defense and GT was always playoff ready.. so TM deserves some real credit for the last few years of development (who knows how far we go w/Kopi last year).

Great week for me and for the 38 years since I’ve been going.. since they wore yellow pants.
