Rob Scuderi’s postgame thoughts…
(on the hit he took…)
SCUDERI: “It was a pretty hard hit. I haven’t seen it yet but, hey, whatever. At least we were able to capitalize on it and help us win the game.’’
(on Jonathan Quick winning the Conn Smythe Trophy…)
SCUDERI: “I don’t think it was a shock at all. He was our MVP by a landslide this season, and the postseason even more. So, congratulations to him and his award.’’
11 June 2012 will go down in history as a great day for the Los Angeles Kings and all the long-suffering fans!
Congratulations to everyone – we deserve it!

Scuds – congratulations on winning the Cup! Your quiet leadership was a big part of what enabled the young core to rise to the occassion! The way you mentored Drew is a perfect example of what you do for this team.
GkG!
Cheers!

Hope all the east coast and Canadian KINGS FANS are giving it to all them nay sayers that have talked trash on our BOYS through out the Play Offs. And while they watched the devs go down hoped they saw all the FANS back our BOYS, believing 100% and knowing that they could get it done

@steveo, I sure am. I’m stuck in damn, stinkin Philadelphia for now, but I can’t wait to be back in MY CITY! But I could definitely sense the bittersweet sense of Flyers fans. They wanted the Kings to win, but three of their key players (Richards, Carter, and Gagne) couldn’t accomplish things there and in one season here they won it all.

Thanks you Scuds! You were a rock on defense this year and an awesome leader!

@g smith86,
Having VV and AM were the reason that move was able to get made. DL was able to stockpile d-men which allowed the Kings to acquire the players needed at just the right time.

The distance Bernier covered to hit Scuderi, I was wondering if he needed an oxygen tank.

@ChrisAB, You should see the wholesale whinning going on by sore fans who claim Scuderi deserves an Oscar! That was a classic major penalty hands down. Some are blaming the refs for the Devils loss, as if getting a 5-minute major sealed their fate.
Even if it’d been a “bad” call, which it wasn’t, the reason the Devils lost is because they lost their composure, starting with DeBore, intent on screaming and complaining rather than killing the penalty.
Let’s not forget how the Kings killed a 5-minute major in the Coyotes series. IIRC, they got called for a minor in the midst of it and actually had to kill a 5-3!
That, my friends, is the mark of a champion!
The Devils lost this series by going down 3-0. The margin for error is razor thin and tonight they payed the piper.
GO KINGS GO! STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!

gnarly hit, but Scuderi is a WARRIOR! can’t believe he skated later in the game. that’s guts and grit.
[Reply]
Doughty and Sucderi were clearly “greenlighted” targets. It was sad that the refs let things get so out of control. It could have been worse for Scuderi… and we still may not know all the story – he looked pretty shaken up.
I love hockey but the refing sucked major donkey by letting things get out of control. The NHL needs to get serious about dangerous hits and it’s double standard reffing.

#7 should get 3 assists tonight….one for each of the power play goals scored on that 5 minute major….
