Quick postgame quotes (June 9)

Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…

(on going forward…)
QUICK: “We have a chance to win. That’s all it is. It doesn’t matter where. We want to win one game. We’re going to prepare.’’

(on trying to maintain confidence…)
QUICK: “It’s three games to two. It doesn’t change what we have to do. We want to win the next game.’’

(on the Devils’ first goal…)
QUICK: “I didn’t put the puck where I wanted to. Parise got it and put it in the net.’’

(on the Devils’ second goal…)
QUICK: “The shot was going a little wide and hit something. It ends up in the back of the net.’’

(on what positives he can take from this game…)
QUICK: “We have an opportunity to win the Stanley Cup on Monday. You don’t need any other positives.’’

(on the team’s mentality now…)
QUICK: “Same as after we won three in a row. It doesn’t matter. At this time of the year, you’re going to win games and lose games.’’

stay in the crease. I’ve said it many times. It was a fluke goal, but quick needs to hustle back to the net after a whiff like that..

Still love it and we got this at game 6

@Lake Forest, yes I yelled that at the tv several times tonight…as well as previous games. He’s still a stud. Go Kings Go.

    @Lake Forest,

Two more fluke goals. Only weak part of Quick’s game is the puck handling. I would rather he never left the crease. He averages at least 2 give aways a night.

@neil, So don’t read/listen to them… Personally, I won’t be watching any coverage on NBCSP or NHL network before the next game; I’ve also stopped listening to the intermission reports and pregrame… All of it makes my blood boil… The players are always going to say the same things unless they play for the Coyotes in which case it’s a free for all… :)

Hey Quick, YOU ARE NOT Broduer, NOT INTENDED AS a put down as he is NOT YOU. You are better then him in the crease but he is better at puck handling… BUT PLEASE, PLEASE stay in the crease and stop playing the PUCK when the Devils are already in the ZONE. LET THE Defensemen do their JOBS. When you do this YOU CANNOT BE BEAT…

Lastly DUDE YOU ROCK… When you are stressed think about the day your first child was born! Wasn’t that a great day? Now relax nothing is more stressful then knowing you are responsible for a little one.

  12. Quick is seething.

He may say it’s the same as any other game but he knows just how bad that play was. I expect nothing short of a shutout on Monday in THE statement game of the year putting a cap on the Cup and on the mouths of naysayers both East and right here at home.

Quick is the reason we are here. Don’t forget it.

@Paul Armbruster (KingsNewsDaily.com), totally agree. Monday has to be the mandatory game of the year for us and Quick has to be brilliant. Perhaps they’ll have a let down after this emotional win for them. I suspect our shots will go in the net on Monday.

The mentality does matter Quick! You guys have lost the last two games because of the lack of mental toughness. STAY IN YOUR NET! It’s what you do best…..a loss in LA on Monday you can throw in the towel, or maybe the puck!

  15. vplaza says:

Just got home from the Yard House at LA Live. Can’t say I’m not a little disappointed, but I said before the series started that the Kings will win in 6. Funny, but the bounces that weren’t going for the Devils in games 1 and 2 are now going in for them and the Kings chances are getting shanked or worse.

Two fluke goals. The Kings played well, but not good enough to win.

One more game. Time to close this out on home ice on Monday.

    [Reply]

  16. Im 100% certain that the Devils can’t beat the Kings and Quick four in a row. However I’m now 100% percent certain that The Kings and Quick can beat the Kings four games in a row.

Ok…so who let him back in our house? Who was it? You all know who I’m talkin about! That nasty guy! The we didn’t finish our chances guy. The we hit the post 4 or 5 times guy. The star players need to score goals guy. Yeah that sum b that was in our house for most of the season. How did he get back in? I thought someone knocked him the frick out when Carter got here!

No matter how well we play right now the only thing that matters is scoring more goals then the other team. It could be 15 to 14 for all I care. Someone please sucker punch that cancer and bring home the prize!!!

    GKG!!!!!!!! GKG!!!

It is very sad the refs are making the NHL look horrible in a great series aganist 2 very evenly matched teams. Bad calls have plagued the entire playoffs hope they find some guys that will make the right calls at the right times.

Quick, you **** the bed in this one. I’m still ****ed at that 1st Jersey goal. Wake up Quick. The Henrique goal and the Parise goals are on you. I expect much better game 6.

    illegalstick33 Reply:

@Scootty, I hear ya scootty. But your way off base. The last two games have been on the offense. Quick has givin us a chance to win both games! The players that need to look in the mirror are on the first two lines! Period! Plenty of PRIME TIME looks on the old timer and they can’t finish. Simple as that. Finish and the prize is ours. Qucik will do his part. TRUST me!!!!

    [Reply]

    m.r.morris Reply:

@illegalstick33, Problem is that once he had given up the 1st goals in each game he helped them build their confidence. Quick just needs to go back and trust in his defense to make the plays and all will be good with the hockey gods.

    GO KINGS GO

    micwoo Reply:

@Scootty, Hey agree on the first goal tonight, all on Quick, but the Henrique goal the other night hit 3 posts before going in. Hard to blame Quick on that one. If you need to blame someone how bout Miller and Fox or Gagne. Everything was fine until they arrived on the scene. Quick will be fine.

  21. Lexigirl says:

@Scootty-Anytime a team can’t score more than one goal, ANYTIME, the players need to take a look in the mirror as well. As many times as Quick has bailed this team out (a la 5 on 3, deflected goals from team mates, not counting tonite’s goal of course, odd man rushes up the middles, 7-9 turn-overs), if they can’t bail him out from one goal in the net, then they aren’t playing as a team, and I can’t accept the game “being” on him. A game with the score of 5-1 maybe, but 2-1, really?

  25. Joe_C says:

Quick has been amazing BETWEEN THE PIPES, and horrid when he leaves them. He rarely adds any value when he leaves the crease and goes to handle the puck. I’ve been screaming at my TV throughout the playoffs for him to stay in his damn crease and quit doing his best Rob Stauber impersonation. And it finally caught up to him…on the biggest stage in hockey, he finally learned (or at least I hope he did) that this is something to work on in THE OFFSEASON and not during a clinching Stanley Cup Finals game. He deserves all the credit for getting us here and all the blame for that particular goal.

Quit screwing around. Stay in your crease for crying out loud.

Jonathan, I just watched yours and Marty’s interviews and I need to give you a little advice since I’m kind of an old guy. Maintain your composure in front of the cameras and these jerk hacks. You have a 15-4 record in the playoffs and have been outstanding. Marty is down 3-2 and is laughing and giggling like a school girl. You’re a young professional. We know that you want that Parise goal back. It’s in the past. Don’t let those NJ fools see you upset with the result tonight. This is a poker game and you are “telling” too much. Players feed on emotion and the emotion of their rivals, don’t give them any. Today was the first time I’ve seen you frazzled during an interview. Smile and enjoy the moment. You’re the MVP of this team and you got us here. Don’t let Marty “ruin the party”….Get the CUP…you deserve it. GO KING GO

Every one of these games has been close. The teams are so evenly matched that this was kind of inevitable. Those of you long time fans, deep down, expected this. This kind of suffering is actually quite well known, and very fitting.
