It’s not quite Newark, but close enough to count… During the first trip here, we encountered pretty much every time of weather: sweltering humidity, mild warmth and cold rain. For the past two days, it’s been really nice walking-around weather here. I even got the exact same hotel room as the previous trip, which tends to happen more than one might think. The New Jersey Devils are scheduled to have their morning skate first today at Prudential Center, followed by the Kings. Here’s how things looked on a cool, slightly overcast morning…

Have a great day and get ready for tonight.. Rich we come home tonight even if we win, right??????I know if it is a negative we go but would we stay til tomorrow to celebrate tonight???

I’m sitting at work “trying” to catch up on paperwork… having my coffee and reading the blog… all I can focus on is just winning this game! So if the hockey gods are listening… “Dear hockey gods! Please let the King’s win ONE more this season, and please let it be TONIGHT!, Please prevent anyone from getting hurry on the kings and same with the Devils, well at least long term on the Devil’s side… Please let the Kings bring the big shiny trophy back with them on the plane right home so that we all can be at LAX tonight screaming like little girls at a Justin Bieber concert! But finally please do it for the great game of Hockey and the greatest hockey fans in the world!” Go Kings Go!

There is no such thing as a nice day in Newark.
Unless you win a Stanley Cup in 5 games.

Rich, when they are on a breakaway, can you reach over the boards with the microphone and disturb the advance please? No one with stripes will see it happen!!…:-)

Hey Duncz,
Remember before the finals started and everybody said The Kings need to score on the PP (or that it could be done without the PP) and I said The Kings were hustling us and would score on the PP and you said you’d be surprised if they got 3 PP goals all series? Go and count… I think somebody owes somebody a parade beer.
haha

@Itchy,
I vaaaguely remember that you mayyy be right in pretty much cinfabulating this whole concoction …
I’d rather have a beer with your evasive sister!
It would cost me too much to travel out of town to get wasted with you … though I could stay here and get wasted in your honor!
Tell you what.
You get in a flight, make it into town in case there’s a 4am silver thingy arrival OR shuttle in for a little street celebration thingy sometime next week and you might be pleasantly surprised at my vaaague self-purported generosity.
Anyway, before we put the Carts before the wh%res like this ….
LET’S HOCKEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Duncanz,
Darn tootin’. Win every second of every shift of every game the coach gives you! There’s plenty of time to shovel poop in the off season!
(the beer was a joke. You might want to sit down, I don’t drink)

Bring on home boys! Its the Kings time !! Thanks for all the great coverage Rich

Rich you have great view. I’m staying at the Holliday Inn by the airport, and I do t have such great view. Anyways, I will be at the game today. I will represent the Kings, and if they win tonight I will be one the few jumping for joy in that crowd.

@King4life33, Thanks so much for representing us. If you can, bring a Hockey Stick, wait until overtime when the Devils have a 2 on 1 break and all 4 officials are looking, then break up the play with your stick? There will be no consequences for your actions. It was a new rule just added at the end of this season called the “Ryan Clowe” rule.
Thanks again.

Been waiting a long time for what I thought might happen last Wednesday night and am hoping that it does tonight. Attended my first Kings game as a senior in high school back in 1980 and was hooked. Now living in Georgia the last two years, I have seen every game of the postseason on NBC sports channel, and have never seen anything like it. Lets get this thing done tonight for Marcel Dionne, Rogie Vachon, Dave Taylor, Charlie Simmer, and for Bob Miller. GO KINGS GO!!!

New Jersey, the birthplace of Pierre McGuire though raised in Montreal later resided in New Jersey. When the Kings win tonight it will be interesting to hear his comments (for a change).
Too bad, as others have posted, Bob Miller can’t be the one calling the Kings Cup victory tonight. He suffered all those years with so many bad teams while the rest of us could, if we chose, turn off the radio or TV when we couldn’t take anymore.
Congrats to DL, Ds, TL and everyone in the Kings organization to have gotten this far for the fans and the city. Just one more win and the Cup finally comes to L.A.!

@backdoorbingo25, If we don’t we will really be the laughing stock of the NHL

we need to punish this team early for making us have to crawl back to their domain, I would like to see the kings with a much higher hit total in the first period, and I’d like to see us agitate Marty a Lot more. GKG

I spent last Wednesday with an underlying sentiment that a sweep and a championship in front of the great adoring crowd was just a little much to ask for. Today I’m definitely feeling that the better team, the Los Angeles Kings, will prevail and finally bring the organization and all of fans what we’ve yearned for so long. In a way I’m nervous; not about losing but about taking this huge step. Nervous but ready. GKG!!!

Link below is a GREAT READ. The Consequences of Caring! Bill Simmons the author is a Boston guy but he has supported the Kings since relocating to LA and shares an intresting prespective on things.

@Peter,
“Who’s the best player?” The answer was playmaker Anze Kopitar, but only because Jonathan Quick hadn’t morphed into an octopus Jedi yet.
^Best part IMHO and 100% factual too!
