Kings 4, Coyotes 3: The Kings won the game, and reached the Stanley Cup Finals, at the 17:42 mark of overtime. Dustin Penner pushed the puck toward the net, then went to the slot. A rebound found its way to Penner, who shot and scored. Jeff Carter and Slava Voynov picked up assists.

THIRD PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Smith.
End of period: The Coyotes outshot the Kings 16-13 in the period. The Kings went 0-for-2 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill, and the Kings will be on the power play for the first 1:34 of overtime. Shots were 39-35 in favor of the Kings in regulation.

SECOND PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Smith.
Coyotes 2, Kings 1: On their first real scoring chance of the period, the Coyotes regained the lead at the 6:23 mark. After a scramble in front of the Kings’ net — after a poor clear attempt by Jeff Carter — Marc-Antoine Pouliot took a whack at the puck just as Slava Voynov hit the puck and tried to clear it away. The puck ended up behind Quick for a goal. Rostislav Klesla and Kyle Chipchura picked up assists.
Kings 2, Coyotes 2: The Kings tied the game with 8:54 remaining in the period. Colin Fraser did some nice work behind the Phoenix net to keep control of the puck, then sent it to the blue line. Drew Doughty settled the puck, then fired a long-range wrist shot past Smith. Justin Williams also picked up an assist.
Kings 3, Coyotes 2: The Kings took their first lead of the game with 6:17 remaining in the period. Jeff Carter made a nice play to keep control of the puck in the right circle in the Phoenix zone, then pushed it ahead to Dustin Penner. Penner made a nice pass across the front of the net to Mike Richards, who knocked the puck past Smith from close range.
Kings 3, Coyotes 3: The Kings’ lead lasted less than three minutes, as the Coyotes tied the game with 3:37 remaining. Taylor Pyatt took the puck wide, and had Keith Yandle going to the net. Rob Scuderi, in front, went low to try to deflect the pass, but it got through and deflected off Yandle’s shin and into the net.
End of period: The Kings outshot the Coyotes 20-10 in the penalty-free period.

Martin Hanzal found a bit of open ice in the high slot, took a pass from Radim Vrbata and shot a one-timer, through a bit of traffic. Taylor Pyatt was credited with the goal on a deflection, with assists to Hanzal and Vrbata.
Kings 1, Coyotes 1: The Kings tied the game with a shorthanded goal with 8:47 remaining, on just their second shot on goal. After a Coyotes icing call, the Kings won a faceoff. The puck came back to Drew Doughty, who took a shot from the right point. Anze Kopitar deflected the puck past Smith. Dustin Brown also picked up an assist.
End of period: The Coyotes outshot the Kings 9-6. The Kings went 2-for-3 on the penalty kill, with one shorthanded goal. The Kings will be on the power play for the first 1:57 of the second period.
