Doughty postgame quotes (May 22)

Drew Doughty’s postgame thoughts…

(on going to the Finals…)
DOUGHTY: “`I’m so happy right now. We’re going to enjoy tonight and we’re going to get right back to work tomorrow.”

(on what it means to him…)
DOUGHTY: “It means everything. You grow up your whole life wanting to be in that Stanley Cup Final, and to make it there, (knowing) how very hard it is. You just hear from the older guys who have played, guys like (Willie) Mitchell who’ve played 13 years in the league and he hasn’t been there yet. And to get there for him, and older guys like that, is a great feeling.”

@Cruiznblue, they ALL are! Penner! all of a sudden that $4.5 seems worth it. GKG!

@Shuchuk, True statements. I was telling the wife last night I had to shut up about DD about mid way through the first round.

He was a stud last night and I genuinely hope they resign Penner. He had a lot of personal stuff going on and I think he’d do well next year. This could be a rebirth for him.

I suspect DDD finds his offense in the finals and he plays the way he did in the olympics!

@Stuart, I suspect he did that very thing in this game.

I’m still stunned. Where did this team come from? I can’t get this grin off my face.

    SDGolfer Reply:

@Lavamantis, They were always good. Lots of people here didn’t believe whe times were tough and wanted to throw DL out saying he had no clue. Now they will be the biggest cheerleaders.

When the Coyotes fans were throwing trash on the ice, I was cracking up thinking about all those hilarious posts about how the Yotes fans would go digging through the trash.

On behalf of @Jess, it’s funny because it’s true. :)

@Kenny44, Were those his jokes? They were hilarious. And then they actually started throwing trash. Priceless!

If I kne hitting Roszival would discombobulate Phoenix like that, I would have sent Brown after him earlier in the game.

I don’t want to go to sleep yet because I just want to enjoy this! My dogs, however, are nonplussed. And so off I go, to dream of how heavy the Cup might be, to wonder how the Frosted Flakes will taste coming out of it, to touch Lord Stanley’s Cup when it is paraded around LA… sweet sweet slumber…

Mike smith just said about brown ” he should be suspended forever”….What idiocy

    [Reply]

    Steve Reply:

@jmiller, Smith’s mom should be suspended forever.

    [Reply]

    SDGolfer Reply:

@jmiller, I guess this moron never heard of Claude Lemieux’s hit on Chris Draper. Pretty sure he wasn’t suspended.
Show some class Phoenix. Especially Doan who is supposed to be a born again Christian.

    bbb7 Reply:

@jmiller, Yep, Smith is certainly a good guy to judge, seeing as he’s such the epitome of good sportsmanship and showing such consideration for the opponent’s players’ health.

  11. Is this a good time to ask a lot of Kings fans to eat some crow, or should I wait another day?

@Dominick (defrim65), Perhaps just a small appetizer? Maybe a small canary?

    Steve Reply:

@Dominick (defrim65), I had faith. I’m past not believing in the Kings. When Smith iced the puck that time, I could taste a shorthanded goal.

I have never appreciated a reaction on the ice to a bad call more than your reaction to one of the most untimely horrible calls in the history of the game. Even the NBC Knuckleheads said it was a horrible call…Good for you DD…great game…..Thanks for helping us go to the party

Officiating was the worse i’ve ever seen makes NHL look like wrestling. Phoenix had a remarkable year i was surprised they knocked off Chi. and Nashville they played great in the playoffs, but were not deep enough.Speaking of Nashville maybe now Nash will want to come to LA.Thanks Rich for all your hard work i look forward to it everyday.
