Fraser returns to fourth line

Kings practice is underway in El Segundo, and Colin Fraser is back in his fourth-line center spot, between Brad Richardson and Jordan Nolan. Fraser missed the previous two games to tend to a family matter. There are no other changes for the Kings this morning. Kyle Clifford, who played in Fraser’s place, is once again skating with Andrei Loktionov and Kevin Westgarth.

Is there a reason Fraser centers Richardson? Richardson’s the better draw man. Actually at 58% he’s the best on the team (in limited appearances) and he was above 50% last year.

    @cjms,

Yes. Fraser does everything else better in that roll.

    Stuart Reply:

@cjms, Fras is the stronger of the two on their skates… And it’s probably the case that Ritchit is more comfortable on the wing than Fras is… there’s no rule that the centerman is the only that can take draws as long as everybody falls back into position afterwards.

    Hackwoods Reply:

@Stuart, Concur. Richardson can still take draws but still be the winger in all other situations. Fraser is a bit better equipped to play the 200 feet. I like BR and think he always brings the energy that a 4th liner needs. Fraser is a little bit better at handling the larger centers around the league.

@LuckyEleven, My $ is on her calling Colin Fraser by the name Corin Firth, or maybe even Carlos Fuentez.

I can hear her now, “Carlos missed two games dealing with a family emergency. He just returned to LA. Look at this shot of starlet X. Can you believe it? Girls go to hockey games! Oh, his names Corin? Colin? Corin?. My bad. Hahahah. Help me out here guys. Well, Carlos rarely scores touchdowns, leaving that job to his defense partner, Brad Doty.”

I also predict few will care as she is very pretty.

It’s great fans want to see the team, support and encourage them. I’d like to know if it’s distracting to the team to have fans in such numbers there. Heck, even some of the regulars that post here regarding practices. How does the large number of fans watching practice change the atmosphere in TSC? Do you think it can be distracting?

Hate to spoil the SC fever, but are the Kings on a slump??? Two consecutive games now that I and even DS feel they haven’t played well. The wave upon wave of forechecking and pressure in the neutral/ozone has been almost non exhistent. The face-off percentage wasn’t that good last game, and they are not pursing net presence as aggressively as in the first two games thus resulting in fewer scoring opps for guys like Jcarter and Mike Richards.

Team has to expect HEAVILY that Yotes are going to exploit those stretch passes. It was one of those bright spots in the Yotes game plan. I felt it was the diffence in the game had the Yotes complete one of those passes. WATCH OUT FOR THOSE KINGS!!

What will we do with Stollie after this year?
Most have written him off for next year already.

But, would we have gotten this far with, let’s say, Lokti on the 3rd line center?
    Doubt it.

    [Reply]

    rogiesback Reply:

@Save, Hrudey!, Problem is Stolly is a play-off kinda guy. He comes strong during the play-offs. I say keep him and all players with SC experience.

    [Reply]

    vinny Reply:

@Save, Hrudey!, stolly has been great in these playoffs, and i like lokti, but the kings also have a couple other center prospects who are a bit bigger, like for example nick shore, who will play college for another couple years probably so there’s always that to look forward to, and maybe stoll can continue to be the 3rd line guy till such prospects are ready to go..just rambling tho haha
