Sutter postgame quotes (May 17)

Darryl Sutter’s postgame thoughts…

(on the Kings’ forechecking…)
SUTTER: “It takes all five guys to make it work. We weren’t that good at it early in the game, and they were. We didn’t get a chance to forecheck early in the game. It’s tough with the goalie, because the moves the puck.’’

(on scoring the tying goal so quickly after Phoenix scored…)
SUTTER: “Our top goal scorer scored the goal and made a great play on it.’’

(on being able to do that throughout the playoffs…)
SUTTER: “The playoffs are about close games. It’s about being up one, down one. That’s why some games take all night. Somebody ties it up. Somebody scores. That’s real.’’

(on not sitting back in the third period with a lead…)
SUTTER: “Well, it’s tough to score only one goal and win. I think we learned that during the regular season. I think we had 10 one-nothing games, one way or the other, so it’s tough to win one-nothing.’’

(on the “animated’’ locker room in the second intermission…)
SUTTER: “It wasn’t me that was animated. Between the second and third? It wasn’t me. That’s the players’ room, right? It’s not the coaches’ room.’’

(on Dwight King’s performance…)
SUTTER: “Well, it was obviously a big goal tonight. A great play out of the corner. A good with good hands and a little composure there, and he puts it right in the spot that he has to. It’s a huge goal for us.’’

(on the importance of trying to close out the series quickly…)
SUTTER: “We get 60 hours of rest before our next game, as long as nobody is in that bike race. They were in San Fran tonight, or wherever they were at, to finish the leg off. I really don’t know what bearing that is going to have on anything. We’ve got to win the game. We’ve still got to win a game, and it might take us another three, five, seven, nine days. So, I don’t think we’re looking too much farther ahead than tomorrow morning in practice.’’

(on dodging the traffic Sunday morning…)
SUTTER: “We’ll be here the night before. Won’t have to wade through all the bikes. It would be awesome, actually. That and the basketball after. It will be tough getting out.’’
