Also, Darryl Sutter was asked about the prodigious playoff beard of Dustin Penner, and give a tidbit into his own past…
SUTTER: “I remember trying to grow a mustache when I was about 20, and how funny it looked. I imagine he’s had a beard since he was 4 or 5, right?”
Question: Was that your first and last attempt?
SUTTER: “No. That used to be the thing. It wasn’t beards back then. It mustaches or sideburns. Because, quite honestly, there were a lot of teams that didn’t allow — you couldn’t have hair that was (more than) an inch below your helmet, things like that. So it was sort of like what you see in baseball, where you weren’t allowed to grow mustaches. The Yankees’ rule, and things like that. It’s a good rule. I used to take Mike Ricci’s hair… I used to tease Mike Ricci when he would sit on the bench, and his hair would be below his (jersey) nameplate. I would take his hair and (push it to the side) and go, `Oh…Ricci.”’

Penner is such a funny guy. You really want to like him, and I couldn’t be happier that he’s stepped up big these playoffs.

Kings face easily their toughest challenge off the playoffs. Regular season not withstanding the Coyotes always play us tough AND get the b.s. breaks. We really want to win the first one in order to avoid gripping our sticks too tight. Kings in 6 or its wait until next year (which will look promising but seriously unfulfilling right now). Yes I called my shot AND before anyone questions my team loyalty – I haven’t missed a game on t.v. in 3 yrs.

@red49er, AFTER taking down the 1 and 2 seeds, THIS is our biggest challenge?? I think not. The Yotes, while playing well, beat 1 team with NO defense (Chi), and 1 team with limited offence(Preds). They haven’t seen nothing like us !

PEOPLE OF LOS ANGELES & BEYOND!
For those roadrunning over to or already occupying PHX for Game 1 tomorrow, to counter the Coyotes ‘Whiteout’ it seems natural to bring over our very own ‘BLACKOUT’, true?
This being agreed (hopefully) can anyone get their hands on a whole bunch of ‘plain black rally towels’? It would just add to the profile of the invading Kings army, and I’m sure everyone would contribute a few $ to be part of that.
Secondly, it seems the most mentioned meeting point is ‘Margaritaville, located at 6751 N.Sunset, a hop and a skip from Jobing.com.
There we can get pregame refreshments and mingle, in that particular order, and maybe put the Wile Es up some of the locals, eh?
This part of the plan is kind of important as I have it on impeccable authority that the Kings official camera crew will be in the vicinity. And you know what that means, right? End of season DVD mugtime!!
Let’s all meet up there at 4pm, or before if you like, and get the party started early!
After that we can make our way en masse across to the arena and show the Yotes fans what we are all about!
