Kings-Coyotes tale of the tape

At this point, regular-season statistics are trumped by the way teams have performed in the playoffs, but it’s still interesting to look back and see how the Kings and the Phoenix Coyotes matched up in some key categories…

Goals against/game: Kings 2nd (2.07), Coyotes 5th (2.37)

Penalty-kill percentage: Kings 4th (87.0), Coyotes 8th (85.5)
Penalty minutes/game: Kings 17th (11.3), Coyotes 3rd (9.2)
Faceoff percentage: Kings 7th (51.6), Coyotes 15th (50.2)
Hits: Kings 2nd (2,274), Coyotes 5th (2,084)

On an unrelated note, there will be Kings hockey on Fox Sports West this week. On Thursday night, the network will air two “classic” games from 1993. At 7 p.m., it will be Game 6 of the Campbell Conference Finals between the Kings and Toronto. At 9:30 p.m., it will be Game 7 of the same series.
