Jarret Stoll’s postgame thoughts…
(on who kept the team calm late in the game, and what they said…)
STOLL: “I think everybody. I think everyone realized the situation, realized what we hear from our fans and how exciting the atmosphere is, but how you’ve just got to stay in the game. When Brownie scored that empty-net goal, then it’s game-on. [smiles] Then it’s everyone fired up, and you realize that it’s hopefully over, and you go from there.’’
(on winning now, after the Kings’ long building process…)
STOLL: “It’s just a long haul. We’ve been through a lot. There’s a lot of guys in here — this is my fourth year, and I know there’s a lot of guys who were here when I first came. We’ve been through a lot together: two first-round exits, some great regular seasons, those couple years we had, and building something special here. Then we add some pieces here and there, a couple good trades, a couple young guys coming up and stepping in and playing huge roles for us, and then just everything coming together at the right time. Great goaltending, on out. Things are clicking.’’
(on whether he ever had doubts about the Kings’ building process…)
STOLL: “No. We still had the people in this room, the core guys in here. I think any time you’re trying to build something, you’ve got to make sure you have that good core group. Once you start dipping into your core, and losing guys from that, then maybe it’s an uphill battle. But we had those guys in here all along. Then you just add those pieces, like I said, and guys are playing well, guys are playing together and we’re all caring about the right things and having the right attitude every single game.’’
