Richards postgame quotes (May 3)

Mike Richards’ postgame thoughts…

(on his Gordie Howe Hat Trick…)
RICHARDS: “I don’t know. I think it’s my first one. I think the intensity carried over from the last game a little bit, and we wanted to carry over with a good start, and they did too. Things happen in games, and we got some lucky bounces tonight that allowed us to win, and Quickie made some big saves. I think we did a good job in the third period of shutting it down.’’

(on the Kings’ confidence level right now…)
RICHARDS: “I think winning obviously does that for you, especially in the playoffs. The way we’ve done it, we’ve kept with our system, we’ve played well in a lot of the situations that we’ve been put in. It’s about going out there and playing the same system, the same game that we’ve played all year. It gives us confidence to have success with it.’’

(on getting a power-play goal…)
RICHARDS: “Like I was saying yesterday, it’s not how many we get, but when we get them. It was nice to get that one tonight. We had some opportunities, and we still want to be better on it, but hopefully that kind of starts a trend.’’

(on what he saw on his goal…)
RICHARDS: “I was just firing it on goal. I got a little lucky there and it squeaked through. It’s something that we’ll take right now. You’re going to need those lucky goals to have success.’’
