– does this “ESPECIALLY” include the 2 goals he personally handed the Canucks in game 4 of the first round?
The guy gets paid $6.6M — to do something in addition to “defending the zone.” LAK pays Trevor Lewis 1/9 Richards salary, to take care of the defensive end, and indeed Lewis defends almost flawlessly for ‘just’ $750k.

@Deirdre, [as to my non-understanding] I used to play, grew up skating on frozen ponds and all that; once scored a fairly sweet goal against a guy that was playing goal for the Winnipeg Jets (an earlier iteration of the Jets) a couple of years later. I’ll guess I know the game, well . . _almost_ as well as you do!

@wes, Regarding Mike Richards C-, if you don’t understand Hockey and all the elementts within that incorporate winning a game, take up golf or bowling. Fortunately his coaches and teammates realize how invaluable he is ESPECIALLY in his own zone defending the zone. He’s been outstanding.

Just so there is no “arm chair” confusion with your analysis I’m gonna ‘watch’ some replays again.

I still may need some clarity on 2 on 1s and whether Richie should be playing at all.

Come to think of it, we may have to review whether Kopi should be pulled for blowing a 2 on 0 shorty opportunity. I mean he only did 2 of 3 things well on that sequence but did not punch it in.

Fear not, the “relief squad” is joining the team in LA.
