Saturday skate update

Most of the Kings were on the ice for today’s optional morning skate, with only Jonathan Quick and a couple veterans not skating. No surprises or changes from the skate.

Kyle Clifford said he is progressing well in his recovery from a concussion. Clifford said his symptoms were more severe than when he had a concussion last year, but that he’s feeling good now. Clifford didn’t know when he might be able to play again, but he was a full participant in today’s skate. More notes and quotes to come…

Good to hear that Clifford is doing better. Hopefully he will be ready to skate when the series goes to LA. We just might need his muscle in front of the net. He is an important piece to our ever changing puzzle.

Only a few more hours to wait. It seems like forever since we beat the Canucks. My take some time to get our feet going, but the Blues are in the same situation. Go Kings and give us all you got!!!

Especially for a 3rd/4th liner. Tough luck. He seems like such a good kid. Would be a shame to lose his style of play – but 2 concussions by age 20 ain’t a good sign.

    Harty Reply:

@King$, he is a great kid Paul and I’m sure once this passes he will be fine.

Not odd, but the kid that hit him from Vancouver they put back down in the minors. typical Vancouver antic’s, they are such mindless, brainless group in Vancouver. I hope the loose thier league status someday. Best thing for hockey.

You’re needed back on the ICE KC. Drink a couple beers, take an advil, drink plenty of water eat some munchies go to sleep and get back to the ice. Ok, i wish it were that simple but get better soon.

Those would be recommendations for his doctor to do since that will be the only way he gets back onto the ice for this series.

  13. Ron Reynolds says:

I had a VERY strange dream last night. In it, my wife and I were visiting friends
and I fell asleep on their sofa (something I would never actually do). While asleep
(in the dream) I dreamt that the Kings had defeated the Blues by a score of 4-0. My
wife then woke me up (still in my dream) and said something like, “You’ve almost
missed the whole game, and they’re playing great!” I sat up, and considered telling
her about my dream, but thought better of it. There was a television showing the
game, and it was late in the third period with the Kings leading 3-0. Our guys were
driving to the net in waves and firing away. Elliott was making spectacular save after
spectacular save, but allowing rebounds on every one, and the Kings would just
keep firing until, at last, somebody buried one to make the score 4-0…and hats
    showered the ice.

Now, here are the anomalies: The Kings were wearing their road whites, and the
hat trick was completed by #7 – Rob Scuderi. I suppose, if there should be a heck
of a lot of Kings fans occupying very good seats at Scottrade Center it could happen.
But Scuderi? Talk about “in your dreams!”

@Forum Gold, Me too. I am showing homes to (2) different clients. Might have to rush the 2nd client a bit because I need to get all my head ready for the game. Kinda ironic I am showing homes while the no shave playoff fan beard has me looking like the homeless person. Always makes for a nice ice breaker when I tell my client I have not shaved because I don’t want to jinx my hockey team and they play tonight. Probably helps them feel confident in my abilities and sanity as I help them buy the biggest investment of their lives.

Really curious to see which line ends up matched vs the StL L2 (Bergland/McDonald/Steen). With their speed/quickness, not sure that the Richards line would do well, especially Penner and Carter.
Pretty sure Hitch will roll out Backes’ line vs Kopitar’s.
Also think the Kings have an advantage with the bottom six, especially the fourth line.

    GkG!

Went back and watch a good deal of games 3 and 5. Funny how you noticed so much more when you’re not concerned about winning the game (because you’ve already seen it).

It struck me that DS seemed to always be talking about the 4th line and so I really watched closely to that line. They did play very very well. Nolan was very impressive and certainly had his share of scoring chances.

I also noticed that Dwight King’s confidence seem to improve A LOT on the third line with Stoll and Lewis. They actually seemed to dominate much of the time they were on the ice. Those three had chemistry.

I’d say these 4 lines have the best chemistry I’ve seen all season for each line. We haven’t seen William’s best yet and I’m hoping to see him break out in the Blues series after a very quiet Vancouver series.

    [Reply]

    FdoFmFull Reply:

@KC23, If things go well for the Kings top six, breaking even vs StL L1 & L2 might be okay, as long as Stoll’s and Fraser’s lines continue to play at a high level. From strictly forward lines perspective, that might be an edge for the Kings!

    GkG!

    [Reply]

    Duncanz Reply:

    @KC23,
So many guys that were relatively “quiet”, as you say, in that series. Count ‘em.
If we can get just a little more swing from some of these axemen, we could really fade those Blues to black pretty quickly!

    Rich,

Any word on the lines DS is planning on playing. He seems committed to putting Penner on the second line. Does that just mean him and King will swap or is there any chance of a shakeup on the 3rd and 4th lines?
