Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…
(on whether that was the kind of tight game he expected…)
QUICK: “Absolutely. They came out hard in the first 10. We expected that. It looks like it took us about 10, 12 (minutes) to get our legs underneath us. After that, we played a great game. We kept them to the perimeter, cleared out any rebounds and came into the middle. Two huge goals, one on the PK again. Greener stepping up and making a big play there. It’s a great win. We’ve got to enjoy it for five minutes and then focus in on Monday.’’
(on the Kings’ defensive adjustments throughout the game…)
QUICK: “I don’t think we made many adjustments. I just think it was the fact of getting our legs underneath us. This is a tough team, to come into their building, and they came out flying. They’re one of the best teams on home ice in the league. We were able to kind of weather the storm a little bit. They got one early, but we were able to get one back at the end of the first and we continued our strong play through the last two periods there.’’
(on the Blues’ strong start…)
QUICK: “You expect it. Whenever you’re on the road, no matter what time of the year it is, you expect a team to come out flying in the first 10 minutes on home ice like that. This team is no different. They’re one of the best teams on home ice for a reason. That first 10 minutes shows you probably why. They kind of put us on our heels for a little bit, but we weathered the storm a little bit and we were able to tie it up there at the end of the first.’’
MVP again.

Ah yes, Park & Ride.
I think the team has bought into it.

I am started to fall in love with my team again!!!! I have this floaty feeling of happy-go-luckyness…it’s been so many years since I have felt this way…I had almost forgotten that I had such feelings within me….I will wake up tomorrow with such a big, fulfilled smile and greet the birds outside my slider and think about what a glorious night this was…
OH Crap! nevermind…GKG!

@g smith86,
When a team wins we refer to them as us or my team.
When they lose we say “them”.

@JackKent Cooke,
When we win we are we and us.
When they lose they are simply the Kings.

Kevin weeks just called Anze kopitar brad kopitar. I appreciate all the press the kings are getting, and I love hearing what others have to say. We get no respect. I hope it stays that way. We seem to have better outcomes when nobody expects us to win .

@hkymike corona, I chuckle when these post keep coming up.
Obviously we don’t get the respect because of the east coast bias or whatever, but I don’t give a damn.
I think Penner said it in a post game interview, we don’t care what everybody says, we believe in this team and that all that matters.

@SDGolfer, yeah, that was cool. LA seems to have a very confident and cohesive vibe right now.
this thing is WIDE OPEN. we have a LEGIT SHOT. and all of a sudden our players look comfortable playing playoff hockey (Slava worried me a bit, but he pulled through). that’s experience folks.
Quick & Brown have been ABSURD. Kopitar has been solid, his points will come. Richards needs to make some more hits and get his energy going, Carter? C’mon man. Get it in gear.
great job to the entire Kings Or-gan-eye-zay-shin.

@SLIM, I was worried that St Louis was tougher (nice job Mitchell for blowing up that dude in the 1st) and faster (nice job Brownie winning the footrace to set up the shorty).
the entire western conference is stacking up nicely. this is going to be a tough series, but I like the way it’s gone so far.
no detroit, no chicago, no san jose…phoenix or nashville up next? GO KINGS.

Hitchcock on the post-game….when you play the Kings, you have to pay the price.
Damn straight. The Kings need to make that the overall feeling around the league. That it’s going to be tough to play the Kings.

Hitchcock said it well…everything was coming from the outside. Kings are doing a good job making the center of the ice in front of their net a no man’s land.

The other thing is the Kings have learned how to weather the first period push that the opposing teams have….on the road Now, they need to do the same at home.

LOL, yeah, still pretty happy about the way the team played tonight. Still room for improvement, but it’s great to see this team turn into a tough team to play against.
