Greene postgame quotes (April 28)

Matt Greene’s postgame thoughts…

(on his goal…)
GREENE: “I just kind of got lucky on the play, following it up. I took a chance on it. It definitely was not drawn up.’’

(on why he decided to jump into the play…)
GREENE: “I thought Brownie had a jump there, on his guy, and I was looking for maybe a pass or just maybe more of a decoy. And the puck was laying there. I just chipped it.’’

(on scoring his first career playoff goal…)
GREENE: “It’s good. It’s definitely a great feeling to be able to chip in and help out a little here. We’ve got a lot of work to do. It’s fun right now, but it’s a new day tomorrow.’’

(on getting two goals from defensemen…)
GREENE: “Slava does that all the time, though. That’s huge. He’s been great for us, since he’s been called up, all year. It’s good to get scoring (from defensemen). Sometimes we don’t expect it in the playoffs.’’

Greener was awesome tonight. That penalty was bogus and he let the Refs know by racing down the ice and knocking the garbage in. Great goal and game Greener.

    @Jeff_R,
It’s funny, over on the NHL game discussion all the blues fans are saying the game was terribly called and that everything went The Kings’ way.

These grapes are good, but they are sour…

  9. Crozitar says:

Greener has been rock solid in the playoffs so far…except when he failed to clear the puck in game 4 vs. Vancouver. But he tried. Willie is just an absolute stud and Slava had turned the corner on his playoff jitters.

On the Greene goal, I noticed that Kopi didn’t even try to go for it. Did he know/feel that Greene was going to get the first whack at it? Was he positioning for a possible rebound if it didn’t go in? Was he trying to position himself to slow down the Blues player coming in?

In slow motion, it looked odd that Kopi’s stick didn’t even seem to be heading toward the rebound.

Not that it matters since Greene punched it in. Just interesting to see in slow motion.

  17. vplaza says:

I know Foxie and the NBC broadcasters were saying that Martinez’ play was a good play, but it looked like an all or nothing play. That puck makes it through and Quick is facing a wide open shot from the other Blues player.

I thought that Voynov had the first shooter covered, so doubleteaming him seemed to be unnecessary for me.

But, can’t argue with the result.
