Parse skating, Clifford not

A red jersey hung in Kyle Clifford’s locker today, but he didn’t wear it. Clifford skated the previous two days but not today. Darryl Sutter didn’t say whether Clifford had suffered a “setback” necessarily. Scott Parse did participate in his first full-team practice since November, but both Parse and Parse said Parse isn’t even close to playing, “close” meaning weeks, not days.

Sutter said the Kings expect to be informed of the Game 5 start time sometime this afternoon.

@tornado12, Too bad Parse cant go play a little with Manchester, at least get his feet wet for the year, and make him hungry for training camp.

    [Reply]

    puck73 Reply:

@bbb7, If his contract allows him to do that, I think that would be a great idea. Something tells me he might have to clear waivers though.

    [Reply]

    bbb7 Reply:

@puck73, I think the problem is he isnt on the Monarchs playoff roster (he would have had to be added like King and Nolan were, ‘sending them down’ for a day to become eligible and then recalling them) so even if he doesnt need to clear waivers, he couldnt join the team. But it would’ve been good for him if he had been able, for sure.

    mash-ola Reply:

@tornado12, I’m certain it’s for down the road, just in case… a little depth should the Kings go deeper in the playoffs. It just gives the team more depth and more options.

Nothing more here to see. These aren’t the droids you’re looking for… Move along!

    Weasel Reply:

    @#unclewillyson,

What? Seriously, why make that comment? He may not be here next season, but so what? If he were capable of playing and could beat someone else out for job, we’d be happy to have him.

Just like the posts a month ago that Richardson shouldn’t ever skate for the Kings again. And now he’s critical filling in for Clifford.

It’s all about role, salary and expectations. If the combination of those three worked for Parse and the Lings so be it. If not, enjoy a career elsewhere.

But then if he did score 20 goals elsewhere someone would post here that the GM should be fired for having let him go….

    [Reply]

    Ari Reply:

@Weasel, I think if Parse’s health problems are behind him … Then any team would be lucky to have him.

He’s got great hands and creativity … He can find the back of the net better than most … Especially for his salary.
