Did you go for a walk this morning? Darryl Sutter probably did. That’s his prefered way to get some exercise and burn off some stress. In fact, on the road he’s been known to occasionally walk to the arena from the team hotel, rather than take the bus. Fortunately, Sutter has settled in the relative quiet of the South Bay, where he doesn’t have to dodge cars too often. The subject came up yesterday, and Sutter was asked whether he got recognized as he pounded the pavement…
SUTTER: “They know who you are, so you’ve got to watch where you walk. [grins] I know how it works. It used to be, win or tie, they were with you. Now it’s just, win. And when you lose, you’ve got to watch where you’re walking.’’
Sutter noted that he has run into several old friends and acquaintances, including longtime agent Ron Salcer and the young woman who babysat his kids in the late 80s when the Sutters spent one year in Saginaw, Mich. Talk about random… It was also pointed out to Sutter, jokingly, that Los Angeles drivers don’t always pay careful attention to pedestrians.
SUTTER: “That’s true. [grins] It’s awesome. Bump and run.’’
